We stayed in ocean site 11. I am giving four stars accounting for the sound of the traffic on the bridge (luckily at night there isn't much traffic, if any), the generator in a buliding that buzzes most the night you can hear in the beach sites but when it shuts off you can the waves and creek, that was so lovely sounding. Also I am a little more inclined to more private or dispersed camping, so all this might not bother you. The bathrooms in the ocean sites had two bathrooms and one shower. Host has quarters for showers and minimal essential goods for purchase. Host was super nice, too. The ocean sites are neat but I think next time we will stay in the redwood sites, just my preference. Great for families. The beach is beautiful and a very short walk for the ocean sites and not much more
Camped here in January and loved it! Stayed in the upper Redwood Camp which sits along a creek, nestled in between beautiful redwood trees. Lots of shade and decent separation from neighboring sites. Short but gorgeous hikes to the limestone kilns and the waterfalls and short walk down to the beach. Ocean sites are close together and are almost beneath the highway bridge, but have beautiful ocean views. Can’t wait to return here!
This place was absolutely amazing! We didn't camp here, but we played on the shore for about 2 hours. My 2 year old son had a blast. It's really awesome how the fresh water creek runs right into the ocean. We plan on camping the next time we visit!
This is a great spot for camping... not too big, not too small. I loved the fact that on one side is a forest of redwood trees and trails leading up to spectacular views, a waterfall and their namesake lime kilns. On the other side, access to a beach whereby the stream that runs thru the campground dumps into. I camped a couple of days in December 2016 and opted for the redwood side of the campground to stay a little cozier. Campsites have full restroom and shower facilities, as well as running water at your spot. Walk to the beach is about 10 minutes from the redwood side, so it’s cool if you want to go check out sunsets as you’re not able to from the redwood side. Where we stayed, the stream provided a nice white noise to sleep to each night we were there. I look forward to the day w
I'd never heard of Limekiln until I drove past it for the second time and stopped for a hike. It's seriously one of the most underrated camping spots I've ever been to. You sit in the canopy of the Redwoods by a constantly running creek because it's fed from a spring. The hike to the waterfall, the kilns and the through Hare Canyon are perfectly lengthy, fun, and beautiful. The campground also includes the beach area. It has it all. This is a must stop in my mind. $10 for the day, $35 to camp for the night.
