Best Western Plus Hanes Mall Hotel

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from start to finish. When I first arrived, I clearly explained to the female receptionist that I had forgotten my physical card at home. I specifically asked her if I could pay using tap payment from my phone (Apple Pay / contactless), since it is the same debit Visa card in my name. She confirmed that it was acceptable. Based on her confirmation, I left the hotel and drove about 9 minutes to the bank to deposit money so the payment would go through without any issues. I trusted her word. When I returned, a male employee told me that a physical Visa card was strictly required and that phone tap payment was not accepted. I was pleased with my stay because the room was clean and well appointed. All the aspects of the room functioned well. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom showed that renovations had been done well with no sloppy paint or tile work.|I failed to discover the room darkening shade behind the sheers and as a result the light over the property on the south side kept my room lit all night. UGH.|Staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast buffet was sufficient--not much different from most.

I’ve stayed at this location before, but it’s definitely gone downhill. The morning staff were kind and helpful, but the rest of the experience was chaotic and frustrating. When I tried to extend my stay, the evening staff refused to assist and told me to do everything online. No support, no effort. The new room I got was worse than the first—visible mold, a strong smell of water damage, and flooring with a rippled texture that felt unsafe. Kids were running around unsupervised and even urinating on the floor. It was unsanitary and overwhelming. The gym was a joke. All the cardio equipment was broken, so I couldn’t work out. Stayed here for the High Point market. You get what pay for. For the price in this location, it was fine. I'd stay again if they fix the weird smell in the lobby. The good: For the price, the room was about what you'd expect. The room smelled clean. The beds were firm and comfortable enough, but there was hair all over one of the double beds. I don't think the fitted sheet was changed. It takes about 5 minutes for the water to get hot, but it does get there eventually. Other reviews mention roaches, but we never saw any, just a big spider in the bathroom. Super convenient location, right by the mall and within a 10 minute drive of anything you could want to eat and anywhere you could want to shop. Quietly located and within distance of tons of options for dining. Plenty of parking but entrance is bit hidden and only accessible one way. Room are vast and comfortable; nothing luxurious. Sound proofing is quite good and quiet. No USB plug available though in the room. Staff is really friendly and helpful
