ART CAN - eco friendly guest house

Stayed here last year for the weekend, and it was an absolute dream. We couldn't wait to come back. This year felt different. This "private backyard oasis" became a very not-so-private fishbowl with different tenants coming and going (and staring!) throughout our stay. The previously blacked out backyard-facing windows? Clear as day, with tenants standing behind the glass and staring as we used the private space. Apparently the owner double books the backyard space, including the advertised "private" outdoor shower and sauna. While I attempted to use the outdoor toilet, a tenant waited directly outside the outhouse door to stand in my path and introduce herself as a tenant, living in the basement. The Art Can is amazing!! Very sweet set up with well thought out and functional amenities. Super cozy inside and the outside sauna and shower are so so nice;-)) It was a great space to decompress, feel creative and work on projects. Neighborhood is wonderful and within walking distance to a lot of good shops and restaurants. There’s a fantastic seasonal farmers market just up the street, got lots of yummy veggies and meats to cook back at the CAN. Highly recommend for a relaxing and creative space!! Thanks Gino;-)

We love ART CAN! ART CAN is in one of our favorite neighborhoods and is very easy to access! The bed was firm but comfortable, and it was really easy to heat the place during cold weather! We were here during lots of different weather, so we kind of got to experience it all in the Can, and I think I can say it would benefit from a split air conditioner in the warmer months. We loved the sauna and used it every night we were here, as it was a great way to wind down for the night. The outdoor shower was also solid, and I'm thinking about building one at home 👀. The composting toilet definitely takes some getting used to, but it wouldn't stop me from booking ART CANN again. Thanks, Gino, for being such a gracious host! We hope to be back here next time!

The Art Can is every urban nature lover’s dream! The attention to detail is amazing—vibrant colors, unique textures, and an abundance of foliage make it a unique place to stay right in the city. We used the sauna every morning, and found great joy in the eclectic record music selection. We will definitely return for leisure and working needs. It is an inspiring space that stimulated all our senses!

I LOVED the "ART CAN" Airstream + Sauna! I stayed the first night on my own, and the second night my daughter (local) joined me. In the evenings, we listened to records (yes vinyl), had a drink and snacks, and later enjoyed the sauna together. The Airstream is well appointed with everything you might need. The bed is spacious and cozy. In the morning, I walked to a coffee shop on Alberta (very close) and did a bit of browsing and shopping. Later I walked the other direction to a beautiful park and thrift shop. The neighborhood is very pretty and so quiet. I felt very cared for at "ART CAN" and plan to return, next time with my husband. He is an architect and will enjoy all of the details.
