Appalachian Motel

Personally, I think the rooms could have been clean better. For instance the shower floor had stains. The bed had little particles on it. The coffee machine in the room needs to be cleaned thoroughly it has stains all over it. I always bring a Lysol spray and wipes as well as my own towels when I go anywhere to hotel/motel just and hygienic problem. I gave that room a deep spray and my own quick cleaning before we slept. But overall the locate was great. The man at the front desk was okay didn’t have any issues at all. I wish I had woken up earlier to get a picture of the sun rise because it has a beautiful view.

This motel was definitely a mixed bag. Not the worst, but far from the best. On the plus side, it was relatively clean. The owner was friendly and helpful enough, though he had some odd tendencies such as showing you into the room and then setting the temperature for you (at 80 degrees!). The water pressure was okay, and the shower eventually got hot. Several aspects were pretty old-fashioned, with a real room key (only one key for two people), and little soaps and shampoo bottles. I was actually impressed that the bathroom had a fan; you don't see that a lot in hotels. There were two major downsides. The service here was awful. The owner yelled at me several times while I was checking in, even after I explained that my reservation name had changed last minute. My friend couldn’t make it, but they allowed me to take over the booking. I had to call my friend so they could confirm their credit card details, and even then, the owner continued yelling and mocking me during the process—my friend heard it over the phone. Although the verification eventually went through, the owner’s behavior remained rude and unwelcoming. I returned the key after just one night. The beds were as hard as rocks, and the walls were so thin you could hear everything from the neighboring rooms. Overall, it was a really unpleasant experience. I would not recommend staying here.

Absolutely terrible customer service. My party has the flu and I think everybody would much rather not have somebody who is sick on the premises. I have been trying for two days to cancel my reservation and whenever somebody actually does answer the phone the guy just yells at you and hangs up on you. I am now stuck paying the fees because nobody on the other side knows how to answer a phone. I will tell anybody and everybody I know to never stay here.
