Altoona Grand Hotel

visiting Pennsylvania to see family and this hotel almost ruined it with the fact that the front desk worker when we initially arrived had a terrible attitude and never checked anything or verified anything with us thoroughly instead I had to have another employee fix it the following day on top of that we had two rooms next to each other and neither had hot water it was luke warm at best or freezing our curtain for the window had a tear through it and the atmosphere felt terrible. To make it worse there hot tub was broken and needed maintenance and not a single day over the three night stay was anybody working on it at all so just a pool in a cold pool room not hot tub and poor lighting absolutely wouldn't recommend with there being plenty of other hotels.

Pool was nice and there was a baby pool too. The hot tub was out of commission at the moment. Bigger breakfast on sat/sun than mon/tues. Grouse nest inside hotel was very convenient and sells hot pretzels with cheese and you can easily DoorDash too. Rooms were good. The area was safe and convenient to target and Dunkin’ Donuts too. We originally had the poolside room and it smelled a little too chlorinated for us but they were very helpful and moved us across the hallway and there were no issues there. Staff was super friendly the whole time.

Very disappointed ! We booked this room to celebrate our anniversary. After being told we could get an early check in they refused to let us check in early. Upon arrival we walked in to a lady whom turned her back around , ask us can I help u and refused to turn around and started a whole conversation with someone else. Completely ignoring us never experienced that before. Our room all night was so badly peefumed with weed smoke we had to have the manager come. We ask to be moved to another room and was told there were none. No.access to the pool because their were over 100 kids in the pool . Hot tub wasn't working. So literally was all for nothing. Anniversaries come once a year and after the year I had I really had looked forward to this. So ok atleast we have a breakfast to look forwa

Stayed here passing through and will definitely be here again! The location was prime, near everything you need. The front desk staff were amazing! And Kera, the breakfast lady was the absolute best! Apparently she works 7 days a week! And she works so hard every day! I def left her a tip in her tip jar she deserves it!

Positive: It felt like we had stepped back into the actual 1990s but in a good way. Yes, some updates would elevate this property but I personally loved the ambiance and vibe. It truly is GRAND! Negative: Since it is a bit dated, some areas felt a little less than 100% clean and the humid weather was felt inside the room. An updated bathroom would be my first vote but everything worked fine and was clean.
