Admiral Fitzroy Inn

I think this was our fourth or fifth stay here, can't remember for sure. We stayed here back in August 2025 (I'm way behind on reviews). It has always been a good experience. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The location right on Thames St. can't be beat. You can pretty much walk to almost anything in the greater downtown Newport area. You also get a free off-street parking spot behind the building with your room which is totally clutch if you've ever been to Newport when it's busy, you know how important that is. We did not use our vehicle the whole time there except one day to drive out to Gooseberry Beach and back, we walked everywhere else. The breakfast in the morning is basic but very good. It was nice to have it right there and not have to venture out every morning for so

I was concerned about staying here because of the many mixed reviews. Luckily we we had a lovely stay. The location was great, the parking was great, the front desk was great, the housekeeping was AMAZING, and the bed was comfy. Were there aspects of the room that needed to be repaired or replaced, yes, but nothing that impacted our stay. The only advice I would give is if you are a light sleeper, keep in mind the Inn is on a busy street so even late at night you will hear people and loud cars, but for us it was fine. I would stay here again.

Nice location on Thames, walking distance to many restaurants, shops and the harbor. Rooms are nice but need to renovate the carpeting and bathroom. Steet facing rooms are very noisy especially on weekend nights. Very friendly staff and good continetal breakfast.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful visit to Newport while staying at the Admiral Fitzroy Inn. The Inn was immaculate, the front desk clerks were welcoming, kind and attentive.|The room was just perfect, charming in every way. The included breakfast was delicious, the breakfast room pristine and the "breakfast lady" a warm and gracious hostess. Parking was free and the Inn is perfectly located. A true gem which we look forward to returning to. This is a very unequivocal and well-deserved 5 star review!

We recently spent a couple of nights here. This was our first time visiting Newport and we couldn't have picked a better place. It is centrally located on Thames Street and made a good starting point for doing all the touristy things. Breakfast was good and we especially enjoyed the spicy apple spread. |The only thing, please do not be fooled by the picture. That is NOT the Admiral Fitzroy Inn.
