Wingate by Wyndham Southport

I travel extensively for work, and this location is not only super convenient for my job, food, and emergency supplies (who hasn’t forgotten their toothbrush YET again?), but they have a great staff. It’s a reliable midrange hotel, and it delivers everytime. Fridge not getting cold, Tammy will help you swap it out. Need an extra set of sheets or towels for an unexpected extra day onsite? Crystal’s got you covered. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Thanks y’all!

Staff, was not friendly, broken front door (Stayed open my entire stay, which made the lobby cold. I needed to sit on the couch while my husband slept in. Every time someone one went in or out a very cold breeze came in.), one elevator not working, ice machine on my floor was broken, breakfast lack a lot to be desired. (Other comparable hotels near by have a hot breakfast. Very limited offerings this trip. Basically high carb pastries, waffles, and frozen sausage biscuits.) I have stayed here before and probably will stay again, if the price is much lower than the other local hotels. My stay this time was not as good as the last time. I wished I had spent $20 more and stayed at a competitor’s hotel.

Positive: The location to the beach access Negative: It smelled like mildew in the rooms. There where humidifiers all in the 4th floor. The room was damp from the carpet to the beds. I got bit by something and so did my daughter. Very unsatisfied I did not sleep at all because I was so I'm uncomfortable.

The state of this hotel is shocking. Front doors don’t close in 20 degrees temperature weather. Elevator broken. Room did not meet basic cleanliness levels. There has clearly been some water damage in the past and the hotel did not replace things: lamps rusted, door jambs rusted, closet rack rusted, possible mold on curtains, furniture damaged and not cleaned properly, water damage on bathroom door, microwave suffered water damage. Came as a group and one person found a roach in their room. It’s clear there was some sort of water event that damaged the hotel, but they have not taken the needed steps to welcome guests. There is a sign at reception that says there is no room service during your stay unless over five days, but they clearly need to rethink that policy with the state of their

Stayed during a few storms and never had a issue with anything. Comfy and cozy sleeping easy parking area and friendly staff. I always check the beds for critters in any hotel and clean every time.
