Captain Newton's Inn

We have found our home away from home at Captain Newtons Inn. Perfectly located in Southport, Captain Newtons Inn takes you a step back in time while offering the best of modern amenities. The rooms are spacious, and the king size beds are very comfortable. The backyard landscaping is beautiful with the pool/hot tub and plenty of seating whether you choose to stretch out on lounge chair or enjoy the swing. The inn keepers are very nice people and attentive to your every need yet still providing you with plenty of privacy to enjoy the house. We spent 3 nights in the “Captains Room”. We loved it! The Inn was conveniently located, walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Southport. The bed was comfortable, the entire inn was very clean and well decorated. Although there was no breakfast, Lisa had the refrigerator well stocked with beverages including bottles of wine and various snacks for guest use. The backyard pool area is a real treat, peaceful and private. We loved sitting on the porch swings, both up stairs and down. There is a steep flight of stairs, which we had no problem with, but they do offer a room on the main floor. We will definitely stay again when in Southport! Thank you Lisa and Hugh.

Valentine’s Getaway! This was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast, and it could not have been a more perfect experience! We have always loved visiting Southport, and the location of Captain Newton’s Inn made this trip one of our best yet! We loved being able to walk to our favorite shops, restaurants and Waterfront Park. Lisa and Tina were wonderful hosts and made themselves available to meet any of our needs, but we didn’t require anything that wasn’t already provided. We highly recommend this beautiful Inn for anyone who wants to experience all of the charm of historic Southport.

Amazing place. Historic and beautifully decorated. The room was amazing and large with a comfy seating area and all the right touches. 4pm wine and cheese, a kitchen stocked with alcohol, coffe and water. The pool area was so peaceful. Close to everything and the hosts were amazing. Can't wait to come back.

Exquisite in every detail-from the furnishings in my room and the Inn to the lovely pool-side garden. This was my ninth trip and it won't be my last! Lisa and Hugh strike the right balance of available to share their considerable knowledge of dining and entertainment options to allowing you a warm and unobtrusive sharing of their Inn. And you just can't beat the location! From the front porch you can see, and easily walk, to the Cape Fear River to the Yacht Basin to all the unique downtown shops. And relaxing with a cup of coffee on the front porch or in the poolside garden offers a view of very different parts of Southport without leaving the Inn.
