Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Southport

Ok where to start..... This is the perfect budget room if you are traveling to the area, want to be close to everything and can make some compromises. First.. I booked a room with the impression there was an actual bathtub in the room, ( online pics showed a room with a tub) when we actually got the the room there was a shower stall instead of a tub. I was disappointed but whatever for the price of the room and the location I didnt feel the need to ask or complain about it. We got the king suit room just so we would have some extra space, the room itself was great for the cost, it was clean, quiet, and perfect for our needs. It did have a slight wet dog/ musty smell when we turned the air conditioner on. But the air-conditioning kept the room at a freezing 65° which is what my boyfriend li

I’ve stayed at the Fairfield in Southport a few times. Each one has been a good experience. Although the Fairfields aren’t as fancy as some of the other hotels that the Marriott offers, it is a newer property and is always very nice and clean. The price has always been extremely good also. The staff at check-in and this morning were very friendly, remembering to give me my water bottle for being a Gould member. The breakfast area is kept impeccably clean and is a nice spot for getting together or just doing some work later at night. I do wish that Marriott would change their breakfast menu. It’s the same at all of their hotels and some of the fruit products like the sausage don’t much resemble. What sausage looks like at any other restaurant. Lol! We visited Fairfield Inn when my oldest granddaughter was married on 13 September. I arrived on 11 Sept and left on 14 Sept. It was a terrific experience!!!||The breakfast was awesome; the hotel was easy to find and the front desk people were amazing! Someone in our group “forgot” her phone and watch chargers (Moi!) and we were given quick directions to Walgreens and Walmart. ||I was most impressed at seeing a special needs student, working in the main lobby. As a retired teacher of special needs students, I realize that their employment opportunities are not overly available. The manager who hired this young man needs to be recognized by the corporate office for her efforts in assuring that EVERYONE counts!!||The wedding pasty and guests were all happy and experienced a marvelous weeken

While importunely the previous occupant of our room decided to smoke in the bathroom and there were no other rooms available the staff bent over backwards to make thing as right as possible given the circumstances. They were as friendly as can be and provided an ionizer that made this tolerable. Given the friendliness of the staff I would gladly stay again in the future.
