Wingate by Wyndham Matthews, NC

Our family recently stayed here while on a mini vacay and at a local event. The location was excellent for our needs, and we found local amenities that we took advantage of. It is kind of awkward to get to, but we quickly mastered getting in and out on the freeway. The advantage of this is that the hotel is in a quieter kind of spot. Even though we were next to the highway, we didn't notice any highway noise in the room. Our room was clean and we had good sleep quality. We did grab a muffin or two on the last morning, but I can't really speak to the breakfast quality. We did see many people taking advantage of it each day. Desk staff was really helpful.

It was in okay hotel but there was a very strong smell. It kinda was a mixture of mildew and chlorine And my room was backed up to the elevator so I can hear it going up and down all night long. Front desk people were very friendly.

My son and I loved it. Mainly my son, and that’s what was most important for me. The room we stayed in was perfect. I had room for work on the laptop and my son enjoyed the space we did have. His favorite part was the indoor pool. Clean and had fun. We will definitely stay again. That was our vacation away from home. The plus was it was so close to his school.

Positive: Very clean hotel Negative: The “fitness center” is very small. There was only one cable machine, one set of dumbbells, a treadmill that was out of order and an elliptical.

Booking this hotel the pictures online looked good and also the reviews coming into the hotel it has a strong smell of mildew throughout the whole hotel. Front desk and also manager were very rude and not helpful at all onto either upgrading my room to something cleaner or giving a full or partial refund. There was stains on both pillow cases and sheets, sticky residue on the counter tops and mildew on the windows amongst several other things, I have no choice but to stay here since they couldn’t give me a refund or even a credit and me and my family drove 15 hours here.
