I booked for two nights online through a booking website. The instructions stated that check-in was at 2 PM. However, when I arrived, they told me it was an hour later. I must say the lady in the front was accommodating given the miscommunication. I had booked for a total of two nights, but the miscommunication continued. On the second day after I arrived, I was woken up twice by the phone, constantly ringing and going off. After working a long night shift, I thought I would be able to rest but then someone came banging on my door yelling “It’s 11 o’clock is checkout time.” When I woke up confused and responded that I had a reservation for two nights and that they should check their system, the gentleman in the front stated that he wasn’t able to see that and it took him some time to final

I was stranded in NYC after all 3 airports were closed, due to weather. There wasn't a room to be had in the city. I was forced to The Umbrella, despite the mixed reviews. OMG I was so happy I ended up there!!!! I had the most wonderful adventures! My room was spotless! The staff was so incredibly kind and sympathetic to my situation! The neighborhood was colorful and welcoming! I don't know when I've had more fun! .... No, The Umbrella isn't fancy. No, the neighborhood isn't chic. .... But the rooms are clean! The staff is wonderful. The neighborhood is interesting..... I'm long past the point in my life where "affordable" is a huge consideration. I'm definitely at the "comfortable" stage in life. I'll be staying at The Umbrella in The Bronx next time I'm in the City! It's where I was mad

This is absolutely NOT a 3-Star hotel. The rooms are advertised as soundproof. Room 704 is NOT. I have cancer and suffer from insomnia due to chemotherapy, and I just wanted to return to a place I have had restful stays at, but was disturbed by a cursing woman having a loud sexual encounter, loud TV sounds, and a screaming child. I was reluctantly moved to C2 which is a basement room next to the laundry. Horrible! This hotel has really gone downhill. A shame. At least the staff are polite though.
