Melrose Hotel

New hotel and very clean. Small hole in the wall with only about 40 rooms in a nine-story building. Located in a poverished area, but the people in the community are family-like and cordial. I felt like I was in Puerto Rico. Lots of things in walking distance. It’s a gem hidden.

If I wanted a postage stamp cubicle, I'd go back to Paris. This place is a joke and Hotel should be in quotes. A Motel 6 would be astronomically better. Space was tight with one person. Can only surmise what it would be like with a couple. No room to even up a suitcase fully.||Website lies: full length mirrors: NO. Refrigerator: NO. And the mini microwave taking up the tiny desk space didn't work properly.||No room service. No other amenities. Once ice machine 7 floors below. ||Yes, quite modern design. Seems quite new. One 24 hr front desk person on duty.||NO parking. Good luck there. Ratty neighborhood with trash all over smelling of urine inhabited by a menagerie of questionable characters. Numerous homeless. Constant police and fire sirens.||Non-standard internet based

We stayed here twice this year and both times were really good, any of the front desk staff we encountered on either trip were really welcoming and had personality. Super close to the subway with easy access to lines going down either side of Manhattan. Plenty of reviews mention the neighbourhood being a bit rough, but we never encountered any issue whatsoever. There are some great, authentic, local restaurants that are worth checking out while staying here instead of spending all your money in Manhattan too. Only thing we would love to see would be a 4th pillow on the bed. For sure will look to stay here again on future trips to NYC.

I had a wonderful experience at the Melrose Hotel thanks to the incredible staff. Jessica at the front desk was absolutely amazing — so kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. She went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and I truly mean that. She made the check-in experience smooth and pleasant, and her positive energy really stood out. I also want to give a special thank you to Jermaine, who helped check in my bags. He was very kind, attentive, and made the process easy and stress-free.

What a nice surprise this hotel was! I had to make a quick trip to NYC for work and I was drawn to Melrose Hotel by its competitive prices, the good reviews from prior guests, and its proximity to the MTA subway. The rooms are very clean and modern, and while they are a little smaller than your average hotel room, they’re certainly not the most compact that budget hotel rooms can get. The front desk staff were super nice and really set the tone for a good stay. As some reviewers have noted, the hotel is located in a part of The Bronx where you are going to see more poverty up close, and while this can be uncomfortable, it speaks to the growing scale of inequality in America, which is more visible throughout major cities like NYC.
