Trail Inn Lodging & Campground

Biked into Frostburg. We had camp reservations that were 100% not what we expected. Nothing from the website pics led us to know that we’d have to leave our bikes and hike a 3-4 story ramp up a hillside to the camp sites. And of course restroom and shower facilities are at the bottom of the ramp. This facility is not suitable for camping cyclists. We stayed elsewhere.

The people are always so friendly, the rooms are cozy, clean, and peaceful. I love the rustic, nature-filled vibe — it’s the perfect spot to relax. I often sit outside just to enjoy the peace and quiet. Now that they serve food and drinks, it’s an even bigger plus! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a calm, welcoming getaway

I camped and stayed in a room. Camping pictures are accurate but the sites are up a steep ramp with several switchbacks. Sites are level and nice. Bathhouse is great and towels are a nice touch. Just be prepared for the ramp. I locked my bike at the bottom of the ramp and carried my stuff up. Pleasant stay. On my return, I stayed at the Inn in a room. Room is basic and clean but had a strong smell of cleaner. We chose the room so we wouldn't need to break camp before leaving to save time. I liked the campsite vs the room better especially for the price difference.

My husband & I stayed for a weekend of biking in the area. The location is great: quick access to the Allegheny passage trail for biking/walking. The lodge & campgrounds are an easy walk to Main St restaurants, and a convenient drive to the college. Locomotive buffs will love the tourist train that comes in around lunchtime; it was fun to see the train turnaround in the evening. The proprietor, Steve, was friendly and can arrange for a lift to the gap if you want to do a one-way ride downhill. Room accommodations are small & basic - we were happy to have a fridge & microwave. Cafe has a variety of eats & outdoor dining. Cell signal in our room was strong. Rooms may be challenging if you have an oversized wheelchair, but otherwise handicap access to covered rooms are good (not sure if the c

It's a nice spot for bike campers. The vertical ascent to get to the campground will prove challenging for most. Once there it's an easy walk into the town of Frostburg using an alley way at the campground. Not recommended for car campers. Overall, very nice.
