Gunter Hotel

I love this place! we had a one-night stop over on our way from the East Coast to the midwest and this was one of the least expensive hotels in the area. But surprise! our room was very clean, had great water pressure, and all the amenities worked as expected. It's difficult to judge cleanliness in such an old building. It's definitely a step back in time. But everything was very clean including the 'museum' on the lowest level. Lots of great food and nightlife and even a bookstore within walking distance. and if it wasn't so cold outside, the balcony at the hotel (equipped with porch swings) would be a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of joe or adult beverage. All-in-all, I'm very glad this place is still around after all these years. While it may not have all the amenities of a modern hote

I stayed at the Hotel Gunter and it was lovely. Becky at the desk was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and cozy. If you're looking for a generic hotel experience then stick with a chain; if you want very affordable, unique, historic, quirky and something to remember, go to the Gunter. It was very quiet while I was there. Don't forget to check out the museum in the basement and experience relaxing on the front balconies, which are available to all visitors and offer views of downtown Frostburg. There are lots of nice decorative details still intact - keep in mind the hotel was built in 1897!

This hotel was truly unique. It was so interesting to stay in a hotel full of history .The staff was very kind and helped answer our questions about the hotel and the area. Would definitely stay here again. So fascinating to hear the history of the hotel. So beautiful too.

Great stay! Historic hotel with a lot of charm. The front desk lady was super friendly and very informative. The room was very clean, ac worked well, and the bed was super comfortable. If I'm in the area again, ill definitely stay!

We had a lovely stay at the Gunter Hotel while biking the C&O and GAP trails! The hotel was gorgeous and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend staying in this unique hotel!
