TownePlace Suites by Marriott Frederick

The hotel manager was genuinely great. We showed up in the middle of a snowstorm at dawn with no reservation, and she really helped us. The hotel was clean and totally fine. But the breakfast situation? Super frustrating. On the weekend, breakfast was supposed to end at 10:00. We went down at 9:30 and the waffle machine was already turned off. The next day (weekday), breakfast ended at 9:30. We showed up at 8:45 and the waffle station was already completely cleaned up. The kitchen staff looked like she just wanted to wrap up ASAP and go home. Over 7 guests arrived at 9:31 (literally one minute late), realized everything was shut down, and they felt frustrated and walked back to their rooms. A little grace wouldn’t kill anyone. Nice stay. The hotel is in a great location, easily accessible from the interstate and close to restaurants and shopping. The common areas are modern and well maintained. The rooms were also modern, spacious, and quiet. The room was clean enough to be acceptable but lacked attention in a few areas, such as surface dust and a floor that appeared carelessly vacuumed. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I would stay here again.

Check In was a breeze. Zach and another female worker were professional and helpful. The breakfast was decent. The Breakfast staff was full of energy especially the one lady that worked on Sunday. Very delightful. She helped my niece in making her own waffle. They also ran out of omelette just a few minutes prior to breakfast end time, but she made a full batch (Sunday staff) The shower faucet was an issue and the water didn’t drain properly. We didn’t raise an issue about it. Also the coffee mugs were stained. Not washed properly. And there is no water bubbler in the gym and the pool temperature was cold. Overall, I recommend staying at this hotel. This is probably my 4th stay here.

I was truly disappointment regarding a charge that was applied to my American Express account for a room reservation that I canceled on the day of my arrival. My boss and I were coming into town for an organization golf outing. I booked 2 rooms. My boss ended up being sick and was unable to attend. During reconciliation of my credit card statement, I noticed that there was a charge for the 2nd room that WAS NOT on my Bonvoy account but on my American Express statement. As a Platinum Elite member, I have always valued the exceptional service and benefits that come with my status. However, it is disheartening to have been charged for a cancellation that I believed would be handled differently, as I was still staying on the property for 2 nights on 1 room. Downplayed Suites in Frederick Maryland is one of my favorite hotels to stay in. The hotel is very nice, the rooms are always clean the mini kitchen comes in handy when you're staying several days. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent because you have everything you need close by.
