TownePlace Suites by Marriott Columbia West/Lexington

We were given a free “upgrade” before arrival. The useless app they ask you to download prior to arrival had our room listed as a queen size. However I thought I booked a king, and went back to my original confirmation and sure enough, I booked a king size room. Not sure why we were given an “upgrade” to a smaller size bedroom without even making us aware. Thankfully, we got there early enough to be switched to our rightfully booked room. We had to wait 30 minutes for our room to be finished. We’re expected to be out by a certain time, but they are allowed to delay check-in time, precious time we’re paying for, especially at $175/night. We stayed here on a road trip for one night. The hotel was very busy and the front desk attendant forgot to bring us the pack and play we requested. This was not an issue as we had our own as a backup, and we eventually found the pack and play in the closet of our room. The attendant was working the morning we checked out and he flagged us down to apologise for not bringing the pack and play when we checked in. We told him that it wasn’t an issue as we found the pack and play in the closet and that we really appreciated him apologising and that the apology wasn’t necessary. Breakfast was typical Marriott fare, no complaints. I would recommend this hotel based on its location, cleanliness, breakfast qualify and especially the service we received from the staff.

I stayed here a week prior, and it was great. Not so much this time. The room we had this time reeked of **** when we walked in. The toilet seat and several fixtures in the bathroom were broken. The mattress of the bed I slept in was lumpy and uncomfortable. Based on my previous stay, I would give them another shot, but I am very disappointed.

This hotel is absolutely top-notch – truly the best I've ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, creating a homely atmosphere that's hard to find. What really stands out is the outdoor patio - it's a fantastic space, complete with a cozy firepit and a grill, perfect for relaxing evenings. Staying here is a decision you won't regret. Plus, the hotel is surrounded by numerous dining options, adding convenience and variety to your stay. Highly recommend this place for an unforgettable experience!

The room actually had a terrible odor. I think it may have been the heat and air unit. It was like a very strong mold smell. Room was not very clean, there was hair in the bathroom in places you should never see hair. We couldn’t change rooms and decided we’d let the front desk know so no one else would be put in that room. They said they’d give us some points for our troubles but didn’t even do that. Will not be going back for sure.
