Thunderbird Beach Motel

The lady at the front desk! She rocks, and keeps the atmosphere light hearted and fun. Super welcoming. The rooms are outdated, but for the price, location, and quality of customer service. It’s worth it if you are more so looking for a place to lay your head and rest. Didn’t notice anything unsanitary, and surprisingly very little noise able to be heard or was heard from other rooms and we were on the bottom floor.

Positive: Room was clean and ac worked well. Negative: No elevator and having to haul luggage up stairs was not easy. No fan in the bathroom made everything get very humid anytime the door was closed especially when showering.

The hotel’s description on TripAdvisor says it is a “quaint” motel… not sure that would have been my choice of words, that said, we found it a good value and more than adequate for our 2 nights stay. While the microwave and fridge helped with the budget (a few drinks in the fridge and something for breakfast in the microwave brought from home) a coffee maker in the room would have been nice (coffee was available in the office). The price was about half of the big-name hotels in the area that for an extra $100 a night gives you breakfast? Had called after making the reservation and requested either 1st or 2nd floor room since they do not have an elevator and was pleased, they had saved us a room on the first floor. This place would’ve been a solid 4 if it wasn’t for a sewage water leak that started on the second night of our stay, it was on the bathroom ceiling, the leak would hit on 2 different spots and you could feel the splash while on the toilet, of very disgusting brown water. Anything on top of the toilet tank and the sink would get wet, and the clean towels got wet, the worst part was how nonchalant the staff was about it when we told them at check out. The lady said “it must be that they showered in room 312” like!???? So they know and they dont care that you and your stuff get dripped with sewage water. 🙂 So make sure not to let them give you room 212. Other than that the room was pretty clean, not spotless, especially the shower but it was clean enough. They just got 2 people cleaning so

Very happy with our stay. It was quiet and great location close to many restaurants and entertainment like mini golf and the Jolly Roger Amusement park. It was great not having to take the car out a look for parking when going out. Beach was steps away and not too crazy busy. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Would recommend and to stay and wouldnt mind coming back. Price was reasonable as well and nice little place to stay.
