My family wanted to celebrate the new year downtown but didn't want to deal with the chaos or the cold of the festivities outside. Our room was in such a perfect location and we were able to see the sunsphere and the fireworks directly outside our massive floor to ceiling windows! The room itself was absolutely gorgeous. We had previously spoken to Elizabeth, the Director of Rooms, about wanting to make it a special night for my daughters and she went so above and beyond! As soon as we opened the door, my girls were in awe and just couldn't believe how "fancy" everything was. The shower was straight out of my "Dream Home" pinterest board and the towels were the exact right combination of soft and absorbent. The bedding was so comfortable and the little reading light is a nice touch! Even w
Just stayed at the Tennessean for the first time. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but there were a couple of issues, which is why I couldn't give it 5 stars.||The good:|- Excellent location next to the World's Fair Park and convention center. Much of downtown is easily walkable from here. Also, it's attached to the Marriott, so you can access their bar / restaurant in addition to the one in the Tennessean.|- The staff--everyone from the valets to the front desk and housekeeping--were absolutely lovely and welcoming. Ed at the front desk remembered my name every time I saw him.|- Our city view room was beautifully appointed with a fantastic view of the World's Fair globe. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room never felt too warm or too cold, and the massive bathroom had a separate W
Great spot and a really nice downtown hotel. The highlight was The Drawing Room because Josh was fantastic: genuinely kind and mixing some of the best cocktails I have had in a long time. The food there was also incredible.||There were a few loud, tipsy revelers outside in the middle of the night, but it is downtown and a Saturday so par for the course and understandable.||I would definitely stay again. Pro tip: book directly on the hotel website—the deal with two included drinks saved at least $30 (cheers to that). 🍸
We've had a mixed experience at the hotel. Valet & check-in we were handled quickly & professionally. On first look our room was spacious, comfortable looking & lovely. We were rushed to get ready for a reservation & found there were some cleaning & maintenance issues. It appeared the bathroom cleaning was incomplete and lacking. There were beads that must have broken from jewelry or clothing on the bathroom floor & on closer look I don't think the floor had been washed. The shower may have been wiped down but there were black debris specs all over in there as if the cleaning rag was very soiled when used. The bathroom sink doesn't drain properly, it's very slow. There was only one bath towel & only one drinking glass provided. The cleaner must have been very rushed. I complained & someone
I rarely write reviews, but after this experience I feel compelled to, especially as someone who previously worked at The Marriott Downtown in Austin, TX. I arrived at The Tennessean genuinely excited for my stay and left deeply disappointed. From the start, the front desk staff did not greet me and were noticeably cold during every interaction. In my first room, the phone did not work, which was a problem because I needed it for business calls while using my smartphone for other tasks. On top of that, the room had an extremely strong chemical odor that made me feel ill, so I requested a different room. My request was met with reluctance, but they eventually moved me. The second room turned out to be directly above a party the hotel was hosting. The bass was so loud that the room was lit
