The Nest Hotel

I stayed at The Nest Motel in Suffolk, VA and the conditions were unacceptable. The bathroom had visible holes in the wall near the tub and toilet, exposed vent openings, peeling ceiling paint from what appears to be water damage, stained and worn fixtures, and dirty flooring. There was even water on the bathroom floor. This is not just a comfort issue — it’s a health and safety concern. The condition of the room clearly shows a lack of maintenance and proper upkeep. Due to the severity of the issues, I have reported this property to Suffolk Code Enforcement for inspection. Guests should not have to pay to stay in conditions like this. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere until serious repairs and renovations are made.

Attempted to rent a room with a documented and tagged service k9, even told my condition but was refused a room as all designated rooms allowing a dog were occupied and the clerk expressed that we would contaminate the room with allergens for future users. He actually did us a favor as even judging the unkempt exterior signaled pestilence. Thank you for turning us away on a night expected to be only 18 degrees, although it is completely illegal what you did, in hindsight, Thank you for sparing us.

If this isn't the worst roadside motel experience I've had, it is definitely up there, or should I say, down there! This was a quick stop-over for one night, on my way to another destination. It was affordable and conveniently located. So, I thought, why not? First up, this is a MOTEL, not a hotel. Upon entering the room, the door was open, and the handle/lock was busted. It required pushing with (or pulling with) all your weight to close the door. Not very secure. I only took in what was necessary, and carried it out with me the couple times I left the room. The room smelled like - I don't even know - just stale, musty neglect. The fridge didn't seem to work, as the freezer section was frozen solid, the sink blasted water every direction, the toilet barely flushed, the shower temperature
