The Maker Hotel

We absolutely loved our stay at The Maker! The attention to detail was exceptional, down to the furniture and lighting selected for each room. When you walk into the space, you can tell that it was designed with a love of beauty. In addition to the stunning space itself, the thoughtful service made the experience so memorable. What a delight to wake up to a daily delivery of coffee and the NYT and to wind down in the evenings with tea. Thank you to the Maker staff for making our stay so special!

The care and consideration that the owners have paid to the history and ambiance of this collection of brick row houses in Hudson NY is evident the moment you walk into the lobby. You are immediately welcomed by staff who quickly take you through the check-in process all so they can walk you around the public spaces, describing the manner in which the materials and furniture were all sourced from Hudson stores on your way to your room. Our room was one of the smaller bedrooms but nevertheless comfortable and spacious enough for two. We especially liked the welcome split of champagne! ||The onsite gym is well equipped and worth setting aside time - especially if you arrive before checking in. We booked a babymoon at The Maker Hotel and were genuinely excited about the stay. Unfortunately, due to the rare blizzard and extremely icy conditions upstate, we made the responsible decision not to travel—especially given that my wife is pregnant and safety was the priority. We reached out requesting either a refund or a credit, expecting at least some level of understanding given the circumstances. Instead, the hotel manager repeatedly hid behind “policy,” showing zero empathy or flexibility. There was no attempt to accommodate us as guests facing a real-life situation—just rigid, money-driven responses. What made this worse is that the hotel was able to rebook our room with another guest and collect the full amount for that stay, yet still initially refused any refund or credit. Onl

We chose The Maker for a cozy winter escape. Instead, we spent the night freezing in our room. Despite setting the heat to 86 degrees and waiting well over an hour, the room never warmed up. We were told the heat was “fine,” but it clearly wasn’t. Eventually, after may calls complaining ,they brought space heaters and blankets — not exactly what you expect for $1,400 a night. While management ,adter a lot of convincing, did refund our second night , when we decided to leave early, the overall handling of the situation felt dismissive and unsympathetic. Luxury pricing should come with basic comfort and responsive service. Unfortunately, we experienced neither. I would not recommend this hotel at all. Many other places to stay in the Hudson valley.

I wanted to give 5 stars for Karen, the beautiful lady who greets everyone who comes into the Cafe. A patrons first impression always determines the rest of the experience. Karen is always so warm and accomodating and leaves me feeling happy that I chose the Maker to eat at. While the food and everyone at the Maker is amazing, it is always Karen who makes us feel grateful that we came there instead of any of the other restaurants in town. Thank you for being the beautiful person that you are.
