Pocketbook Hudson

I’ve stayed at Pocketbook a few times now, and each visit feels a little more polished than the last. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable, and manage to feel both stylish and welcoming. On my first stay, back in November just after they opened, the hot water took a few minutes to warm up, but that was not an issue on later stays. The food is a standout too. I highly recommend the scallops to start, and the steak, mutton, and chicken mains are all excellent. The dessert menu has been nothing but wins. I’d still love to see a burger or steak sandwich added for times when you want a quicker, less formal dinner. The staff is always kind and helpful, and you can really feel the care that’s going into the place. It has quickly become my preferred places to stay in Hudson.

While the building is aesthetically beautiful, it fails in functionality. I’ll start at the beginning. The parking lot is an unpaved gravel yard opposite the fire station (and across the street from the hotel). It was muddy after the snow melted and a disappointing first impression. The building has been restored beautifully with exposed red brick, white walls and minimalist decor. The rooms are absolutely tiny. The shower toilet combo is cordoned off by a frosted glass partition while the wash basin is in the main room adjacent to the closet. The Queen room could barely fit two people. The bed itself was comfortable but completely pointless since you will not sleep a wink in this hotel. You can hear literally everything going on in the adjacent rooms. We came for the annual Winter Walk and had an incredible stay at Pocketbook Hudson. We stayed in a Lounging Studio room, and every detail was thoughtfully and beautifully chosen. You can truly feel the intention behind the design and the comfort. We already can’t wait to return in a couple of months when the baths open. It’s definitely a place we’ll come back to again and again. A huge shoutout to Joe Hoffmann (Manager) for making our stay exceptional. His attention to detail, hospitality, and genuine care elevated the entire experience. Thank you for such an amazing stay!

I had a wonderful stay at the Pocketbook Hudson! The rooms and the entire hotel were beautifully designed and spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly as well, with Joe, and everyone else, going above and beyond to make it a special stay (even leaving a handwritten note and bottle of champagne in the room for my fiance's birthday). The bar in the hotel was an inviting space that was filled with people each night. It was an easy walk to the main street from the hotel, but was in a nice, quiet area. I look forward to coming here again once the baths are open!

As a creative professional—and a very tired mother—Pocketbook Hudson elevated all of my senses. I lost track of time in the best way: getting absorbed in my work, moseying around the bar, meeting new friends, sipping martinis, and eventually falling into the most comfortable bed in the loft suite. The bath experience is excellent—spacious, beautifully appointed, and perfect for a long soak, wrapping up in a robe with a hair mask. The service is thoughtful and deeply restorative. The attentive team, the complimentary morning coffee, and the most perfect bone broth for breakfast genuinely felt healing—inside and out. It’s rare to feel so cared for without it being intrusive.
