The Local - St. Augustine

My experience at The Local was far below expectations. The service is inconvenient and impersonal with no real staff on site, so when you need help you are left texting or waiting for someone to maybe respond. It does not feel welcoming or attentive in any way. The rooms themselves were also disappointing. The beds are uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin, so you hear everything happening around you. It is hard to rest when you can hear conversations and movement from neighboring rooms. The air conditioning situation makes things worse. There is no central AC, so each room has its own unit. Some seem old while others appear more updated, which leads to inconsistent temperature control. The room was either too cold near the unit or too warm elsewhere, and it never felt comfortable o

So close to so many things; yet still felt cozy and safe! The room is so cute and so CLEAN! I LOVED that there was a separate little recycle bin; I've never seen that anywhere else. Also the complimentary ear plugs, air purifier, safe, steamer, a Roku TV with automatic info deletion, a lap desk.. so many nice touches :) I would definitely stay again!

I was actually excited to stay here for an event this upcoming weekend but am unable to due to a personal event. I booked through booking.com and was given the option to request free cancellation which the hotel honored. I am very grateful that they did that even though they did not have to so for that reason I’d like to rate them. Thank you so much!

I’m not sure if this hotel is what the future looks like for the hospitality industry, but I for one don’t like it! There is no lobby where you check in and are greeted and given your keys or key cards, but you can get coffee there. You don’t have anyone take your used towels away and leave you fresh, but there is a notice on the desk to tip your housekeeper 🤷🏻‍♀️even though you don’t see one. There was a light outside our room that lit up the whole room, they must have never heard of dark out shades. I found it very creepy that know one was there. Will not be staying here again!

Immaculate room. Safe location. Would be too far of a walk from historic district depending on time of year and health. NO FROMT DESK. It’s all completed over the phone. They’ll send a text for check in. We had no issues. We were able to get our key from the lockbox. Nice pool and area. Tacos across the street are AMAZING!!!
