Customer Reviews
Positive: Lake view Negative: That we were on the 2nd floor about as far away from the elevator as you could get. Also that there was not an ice machine on our floor. Super inconvenient to have to not only walk a long way back to the elevator but then go to another floor to get ice.
The rooms, hotel, and location are all beautiful. However, the parking is absurdly expensive, and the drivers who are supposed to drive you to places around the city, to alleviate the aforementioned absurd prices, are seldom available. Also, room service is liable not to come, even if you request it at the front desk. They will charge you an extra 50 bucks at the end and not tell you. It will just appear on your bill, which is even more absurd because housekeeping never came to my room during the entirety of my stay despite requesting it twice at the front desk.
There’s no doubt that the city of Madison is a pretty cool place with the lakes, the state capital and the university. Fortunately, the city has a beautiful, lakefront hotel property that encompasses all of those attributes with the Edgewater. We went to Wisconsin for a Packer game and are really glad we had the opportunity to stay in Madison at the Edgewater. The property is all decked out for Christmas and the vibe was great in the bar and restaurant. The staff is “over the top” accommodating and welcoming. |Every great city should have a great - non chain- classy hotel like this.
I am thoroughly impressed with the Edgewater. We booked a room and spa services for my friend's retirement celebration....on what was probably the coldest day of the year. To my surprise, Ryan greeted us, unloaded and parked the car, and coordinated a driver for our evening events. Chase was our driver to her party and dinner, and delivered her gifts to our room. Tiffany was my massage therapist for spa services the next day. Her technique was tailored to my comfort and was the perfect way to end our stay. Everyone we interacted with made us feel welcome and genuinely seemed to enjoy their role. Customer service is a tough career. There are some really great people that made our stay a complete delight. We'll be back!!
Staff is very kind and professional and location is convenient and pretty (on the lake). Rooms are clean. Rates are high for what it is, comparable to other places in the area. There isn't a pool outside of the spa and spa prices are high for Madison, too. I booked erroneously under the wrong rate (totally my fault) but wasn't able to cancel as it was within 24-hours and they couldn't make any adjustments to figure out a half-way solution- so not super accomodating management.
