The Compass Rose Inn

Fabulous stay at this beautiful inn. Our room was a combination of upscale hotel and historic charm. Innkeeper was very pleasant and helpful. Continental breakfast was delicious, but would recommend they change out the frittata /quiche element to another kind of breakfast casserole every other day.

We made last-minute reservations for an overnight stay for our anniversary, and the Compass Rose turned out to be a perfect place to explore Newburyport, being close to the main downtown, but on a quiet side street with its own parking, well within a short walk to any number of good restaurants. The inn itself has old world charm, but with modern comforts. The innkeeper, Sadie, was genuinely welcoming and helpful. Our suite was quiet, spacious, and well laid out. The included breakfast was generous and varied, and a lovely way to start the next day. We plan to return to experience the inn in other seasons, particularly the warmer weather, since the inn is just a block or so from the rail trail. And don't miss the beautiful views from the cupola on the third floor!

One of the most beautiful inns we have ever stayed at. Our 3rd floor room was gorgeous, the inn was quiet and inviting. The breakfast was just perfect. Sadie the inn keeper was an absolute delight. Compass Rose is a top notch inn, we will definitely be back!

My husband, sister and brother-in-law had a wonderful three day stay at the lovely Compass Inn. Our rooms were spotless. Shout out to Sadie for making us feel welcome.||Our bedroom plus sitting room was very cozy,and spacious. The main sitting room had a fireplace which was fun to sit and chat in after dinner.||The Inn is only a walk away from small shops and restaurants.

The inn was in easy walking distance of the historic downtown. We enjoyed the sitting room with the fireplace and comfortable furniture. The inn provided sherry and very yummy home baked chocolate peppermint cookies plus wrapped chocolates.|For breakfast, there was a quiche and yogurt with fruit as well as cereals and breads.|My daughter and I were very comfortable there.
