The Bower Coronado

I have intended to write this review since last April and was reminded while booking this year’s trip back to Coronado and The Bower. We stayed at the Bower with our two children for a family vacation. It was the perfect boutique hotel experience- warm, luxurious without pretense, welcoming, and quiet with a feeling of home. Although the hotel is not marketed towards children, my children were very welcome and the staff was wonderful. For me, luxury is found in small, thoughtful touches (like complementary coffee, tea, juice, specialty sodas, and pastries), quality in all aspects of the stay (delicious food, comfortable bedding, excellent bath products), and genuine hospitality. Wow! The Bower Coronado completely blew us away. This hotel is absolutely stunning from the moment you arrive. The rooms are beautifully designed, and the Le Labo soaps were such a luxurious touch. When we checked in, they poured us a welcome drink, and when we mentioned we were on our honeymoon, the staff immediately went above and beyond to make our stay special. We believe they upgraded our room, and when we got inside, there was a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us—such a thoughtful gesture! The amenities were fantastic. They offer complimentary beach kits with chairs, towels, and an umbrella that we borrowed for an afternoon at the beach, which is just a 5-minute walk away. We booked this room for our friends 29th birthday and had the best expierence. The staff is so attentive at first on the phone Mikaela came off a little brut but after meeting her in person. She made our stay so amazing. I needed ice for my drink and less than 5 minutes they had ice up to the room. We rented a golf cart and parking it at the hotel was a breeze and they were so accommodating with charging it. The beds are top notch like the best I’ve ever slept in. My one true complaint is the the sound of the steeet and cars is pretty prominent I wish they had used thicker glass.

I overall had a completely fine stay at The Bower. It’s a beautiful hotel with a very modern, calming aesthetic, and the staff was consistently kind and accommodating, particularly with check-in. The location is wonderful— so close to the beach and several shops/cafes. That said, for a hotel that is marketed as a luxury five-star property, I felt several details were missing from the overall experience. ||Housekeeping was inconsistent: during my five-night stay, my room was serviced only twice, and one of those times the towels weren’t replaced—they were just rehung. Additionally, both times I returned after housekeeping, the central heat had been turned down to 65°F, so I walked into a much colder room than I would have wanted. My husband and I recently booked a spur-of-the-moment getaway. When we made our reservation, we had the pleasure of speaking with the General Manager, Sean Murphy. What a joy it was working with him on the reservation. We met him at the hotel and were impressed with by his interest in us. I felt like we were family!||When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff. Each of the staff spoke with us when were were coming and going from the hotel They were attentive and friendly. ||The architecture style of the hotel was beautiful. The room and hotel was as pictured on their website and the bathroom had lovely bath products. The beds and pillows were very comfortable.
