Terry House Boutique Hotel

AMAZING experience! Beautiful home, beautiful setting, wonderful outdoors spaces, fabulous host. Honestly can’t say enough about our experience -it got beater with every floor, balcony and outdoor space we visited! We were so happy with the space we forgot how wonderful the surrounding area is as well. Views of battery park from the balconies and just steps to fully enjoy the entire battery park experience. Restaurants and bars just steps away although we enjoyed snacks and beer right on the lovely decks and patio of the home because they were just too good to leave! GET HERE you will LOVE it!

Just home from a wonderful stay with the lovely folks at Terry House. The location was so convenient to the historic area of New Castle. Easily walkable to historic sites, a walk along The Battery, interesting shop and delicious dining. I was checking on some family history in the area and this was a good spot to rest our heads after a day of pounding the pavement (or bricks and cobblestone!). We had two rooms since the length of our stay overlapped a busy weekend. So we can tell you that both rooms were special. Room 5 was smaller in both bedroom and bath area, but it had all we needed. I has some work to do at by computer, so nice to have a desk to work on. All rooms had A/C. In October, it was still needed during the day, but we shut them off at night. Ceiling fans were all we needed. R

I was able to book a room a couple hours in advance and James was friendly and flexible with the check-in time. I'm really glad I chose to stay in Old New Castle. It is almost frozen in time and not commercialized (e.g. no Starbucks). Cities like Boston or NY have similar neighborhoods but they're noisier, busier, not as tranquil. It's a pleasant stroll walking around town, even if it's not big you can see something you missed when passing by again. Nice dining options available. I got ice cream at Jessops--lingonberry!, tea at Mercury, salad at Nora Lee, and definitely check out Dream Bakery for some bread, if not just to smell. We had a great time at the Terry House, we came for one night for our anniversary. The house has so much charm and history. The rooms are decorated with period pieces without feeling too old and stuffy. They did a great job with this. It was quiet at night and was also in the perfect location for walking to a lot of shops, restaurants and Battery park on the waterfront. We also accidentally planned this trip on the weekend of Separation Day festivities and got to watch fireworks from the park which was about a 1 min walk from Terry House. This was an awesome plus. I would say, for early risers, bringing back the breakfast part of this bed and breakfast would be a great idea. I deliberately booked at the Terry House based on a recommendation from a friend even though it was a little further away from my meetings. I could not have been happier with my choice. The accommodations, attention to detail and responsiveness of the owners were all over the top. The only complaint was that it was a business trip. Planning a personal trip in the spring.
