Sunset Motel

There should a “no star” option for this place. Dingy towels, stained sheets, waiting outside in the cold for 10 minutes for the clerk to decide to come to the window (lobby door was locked so only an outside window with a bell was available). After ringing the bell twice during a 10 minute wait, knocking on the window finally got some attention. Their main phone line also did not work. Something gross was splattered all over the bathroom door. 56 years of traveling, this was the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in.

Property had a "For Sale" sign. At check-in clerk could not turn on light in office area. I had to use my phone screen light to see paper work. Parking lot seedy looking. Wiring in room would not likely pass inspection. Could not plug in frig and microwave at same time, one outlet on extension cord. Poor in room lighting. Room door locked but light shown around door. Would not have stayed except had a non-refundable reservation.

Clean beds and flooring. Tile in bathroom was cracked and no drain plug for bathroom also, despite scratches on walls and was hesitant to use the heat but worked fine it was an okay experience. The fridge and microwave was unplugged as well when I got in. The beds were super comfy. Would recommend additional TLC for the heater in the bathroom and the sink needs calking. Reminded me of a cabin at youth camp 😅

Where to began, camping at Ute Lake when severe weather hit forcing us to leave in a rush and seeking a room instead of driving 4 hours home. Management saved us a room until we arrived and was so welcoming. Rooms are being updated still but have new vinyl flooring, clean newer beds, tv with all cable channels and NON-SMOKING. Definitely appreciate management and recommend it to anyone passing by.

Run down, worn out place BUT the room I had was comfortable & clean. No bugs and I was comfortable. Paid $70 with tax for one night.
