I stayed at sunnyledge very recently and it was great! The staff were friendly and very eager to fulfill any request I had. I had a very tasty Raspberry Lemon martini made by Leslie, who also checked us in. The hotel is very small so he staff get to know you well. As said in previous reviews, location is great. The room was a bit dated, but clean and the bed was so comfy I slept like a baby! I stayed 2 nights and there was no charge for parking (I even left it in the lot until 5 pm the day I checked out!) I was happy to be one of the first to try the new buffet style continental breakfast, it was good and I left full. All in all great stay and I will definitely be back the next time I travel to Pittsburgh.

Charming bed and breakfast style inn! Beautiful restored mansion! We stayed in a deluxe room, with a king size bed. Comfy mattresses and pillows, large room and large bathroom. Air conditioning was quite and kept us cool and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is no longer a restaurant at this hotel, but they do serve a simple complimentary breakfast. The neighborhood is safe, and the hotel is extremely quiet. The martini bar is cozy and has creative cocktails. The exercise room has 2 treadmills with small tv's and an exercise bike, but the hilly neighborhood is wonderful to walk or jog in. Great stay if you enjoy older, unique hotels!

My wife and I stayed at the Sunnyledge hotel for a night this past weekend. The hotel is a beautiful former mansion built in 1888 for a wealthy Pittsburgh Physician. The hotel's location on 5th Ave was very convenient while visiting our daughter at Pitt. The sign out front advertised for a martini bar. The martini bar sign was the reason we decided to get a room there for the night. After checking in we carried our luggage up three flights of stairs to our room since there is no elevator. As we unpacked, we tried to watch TV but the Dish Network wouldn't work properly so we could only watch 2 channels. The hotel doesn't serve dinner so after we ate at a local restaurant we came back to enjoy the martini bar. The martini's were underwhelming and the bar is a great place to drink if you like

Having grown up in Pittsburgh, I've visited once or twice a year and saw the Sunnyledge emerge as an upscale bed and breakfast with a really fine restaurant. A couple of years after it opened, a friend and I had dinner there and loved it. || I hadn't been to the city for three years, when I needed a hotel for a recent visit. I read the not so good reviews, but thought I'd try it for two or three nights. The location, on Fifth Ave. in Shadyside, is excellent, and I remembered how impressive the converted mansion was. Unfortunately, the property has really gone downhill. My daughter and I walked into a dark, dingy, musty smelling atmosphere. Tables were formally set in the old dining room, but I never saw a person there. The bar, too, did not have a living soul on a stool (to my knowledge)

.Location, location, Shadyside/Oakland Near downtown location is Sunnylede Hotel's strength. It's an older property with minor issues but nothing fatal. I arrived early, a bit past 1 pm, check in was a breeze. My clean room was a comfy king corner room facing 5Th Ave and a side street. . Bathrooms are for one person at a time, towels and soap adequate. Since the weather was gorgeous, I spent little time in my room, TV worked OK, didn't use parking, workout room||. . ||I like that it's close to public transportation, shopping, fun sights, and good eating at many price points. As a single woman traveling alone, I felt safe at the hotel. ||After caring for my bags, the bellman got me a towncar to the airport. My experience was positive at Sunnyledge
