Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa

Stayed in early Feb, 2026 for four nights. Had an excellent stay. The room was very clean and quiet. Loved the fireplace in my room. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It’s in a great location and the price was great. To address other reviews- clearly this was once a grand hotel but it has aged. It seems like the staff are proud of what it once was and still could be and are trying their best with limited resources. If the ownership simply invested the care, money, and also invested in quality workmanship (not the lowest bidders with no experience) for needed updates, this could once again be one of the best of the east. I commend the employees for the dedication and care.

Positive: So many amenities!! We enjoyed the indoor pool, game room, weight room, and breakfast. Can't wait to see what it is like after the renovations. Negative: The shower in our room was only a trickle so I used the locker room showers on day 2.

We had the best experience at Stoweflake Mountain Resort. We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhouse that was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed included beautiful snowy views. The general manager Duncan went out of his way to make our stay incredibly special. He invited our 8th grade friend who were traveling with to perform her oboe in the lobby as a “mini concert” and he was generous and thoughtful to even leave her an envelope with $20 in it. This was above and beyond and made all of our experience so remarkable. The staff was so nice and the pool and fitness area was great fun for all. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful memorable vacation.

Terrible - Possibly the Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Avoid at All Costs ||Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa – Stowe, VT ||- the spa closed a long time ago!||||As someone who has skied Vermont for over 35 years and fly-fished these rivers since I was a teenager, I've stayed at dozens of lodges and resorts across the state. Stoweflake used to be the gold standard—top-ranked, elegant, impeccable service, the kind of place you looked forward to every winter. What I experienced in December 2025 and Jan 1st 2026 was an absolute disgrace. This property has fallen so far it's unrecognizable, and frankly, Jamsan Management should be ashamed of themselves. So the wife and I had planned a long weekend and booked the Stoweflake. Hadn't stayed here since about 1983...and it still kinda looks like 1983. When we checked in we were put in to a room in the 400 block. The room was tiny, had a space heater in it and the mattress was reminiscent of a sponge cake. Arguably the worst night of sleep in my life. I asked for a new mattress in the am and the woman in the front was great! No problem and they moved us to another room in the 200 block. That room was significantly nicer, the bed was much better and the entire staff was super accommodating. Yes the rooms are outdated and old but they are clean. The other facilities that are open are good...spa, pool, gym, etc. This is just a massive footprint of a building that needs some TLC.
