Stayed in the single room cabins for 4 nights. Each cabin had electricity and heat/AC. Bathrooms/showers were a short walk away. Rooms were clean and each site had an indoor table and outdoor Fire pit with metal picnic table. Would definitely go back. Only 5-6 minute drive from Custer
This campground is beautiful! We stayed there with our 26 ft TT and had a great spot where our door opened to grass and ponderosa pines (shown in video). However, the site was not level. Usually I need two stacking leveling blocks under each tire to get the camper level. Here, we had to use all of our leveling blocks plus extra wood to get it level. I even tried different areas of the pad to see if one section was more level than another but no luck. I only bring this up to make sure you bring extra leveling supplies to prevent having to go buy more or spend a night rolling out of bed. The fishing is GREAT in Custer. There is a lake walking distance from this site. The campground is also on the side of the park closer to town so running in to get groceries is a breeze.
An amazing experience. The campground is beautiful, nice and quiet even on busy evenings. Camp host was active on site and helpful. Well kept, bathrooms cleaned daily, campground is close to a nice hiking trail (blue diamond), looks to be a new access point. Access from the lake to Mickleson spur bike trail, 20 minute cycle into town. You will have to cycle on the road a short distance from campground. We trailered to the lake to the trailhead to be safe (5 minute drive).
A good staging ground for exploring the area. Not a huge campground. Fairly tight given the gargantuan size of most trailers these days. Great bathrooms. Some slope to the lot we had.
We camped here for 10 days with our 24 foot travel trailer and loved it! It’s quiet and low-key, beautiful views, and well-staffed. There is electricity and water but no dump station. The lake is lovely for kayaking and swimming. There is a bike trail to the Mickelson Trailhead in Custer that’s about 4.5 miles and well-maintained. It is an easy drive to most everything in Custer State Park. Highly recommend!
