We visited in August and the hosts were so welcoming and kind. The sites had all the accommodations we needed. We took a walk in the morning where Gary told us a little about and to check it out - just a trail around the back of the campground. It was such a beautiful place - we decided to have an artist paint from our pictures so we will have a forever memory in our living room. If you are out near Custer and need an RV site, this is it!!
We camped at Echo Valley Park for a week in our Airstream. It was a most excellent stay! The host Gary was super friendly and very helpful. The views and trails within the park were incredibly scenic, with great views of Crazy Horse and the surrounding mountains. This is a no frills campground. Not a resort. But it is clean and most of the campsites were moderately spacious and level. The bath house was clean, and the showers were good. The price is very reasonable too. It was a great stay. And we will be back next time we are in SD.
What a beautiful/ peaceful place to camp! Gary has really taken amazing care of this retreat, he’s also the nicest person we’ve met on our adventure :) . The bathrooms are clean, the shower was nice to have and the camp spots are private. We found this place randomly online and it was only $20, 5 minutes from crazy horse and had everything we needed for a nice night to stay near Mt. Rushmore (about 30 minutes but not a bad drive at all). We hope to come back one day and visit because we really loved it here! We had a tent spot near the top of the hill and it was all to ourselves. Gary was so nice and gave us a tour of the property, there’s a lake with little paddle boats, a free esh running spring, beautiful views of crazy horse right from the back end of the property. Amazing experience,
This is a somewhat small family run campground that was really nice. You can get a great view of the crazy horse statue from the campground road. Bath house was clean and they had left out some nice amenities. They had maps, brochures, shampoo, lotion and even razors. We were in site number five, which was a pull through and had a nice shade tree. There were trails but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy them. Conveniently located to both the town of Custer and Mount Rushmore. When we drove around and saw how many other campgrounds were right on the main highways, I was so glad to have reserved this campground so I didn’t have to deal with road noise.
Wonderful hidden gem, full hookups available with bath and shower room We opted for a more spacious site with electric only. We had such a great time, we extended our stay. Host is wonderful and respected our privacy. Well behaved pets are allowed. Great location to explore the Black Hills from.
