Stillwell Ranch Store & RV Park

I loved camping at the Stillwell park, very glad I stayed here over Chisos Basin campground. I went to the Basin campground to get to the Window Trail, and it was very crowded with spots right on top of each other ("commercialized camping", as I call it). The Stillwell park was about forty miles north of the popular trails like Lost Mine and Window, but it was a much more natural camping experience and much quieter. The sunset and night sky were beautiful, and the drive down to the park was very enjoyable at sunrise. I will absolutely be staying here again in the future.

I have stayed here tent camping a dozen or more times. I come with a group, usually 10-15 people, and we have never had any trouble. Yeah sure sometimes the bathrooms are messy, sometimes the showers are too, and sometimes the management is a little messy as well. That's life. Life is messy. If those kind of things are problematic for you, you might reconsider camping. Stillwell is the perfect spot for us. We LOVE all the amazing hikes and scenery in Big Bend and this gives us a spot to camp without all the fuss. Honestly Big Bend is so large there's no benefit to camping inside the park itself. Not for me anyway. Camping here is great if you want privacy, solitude, and the most breathtaking starlit nights you've ever seen. Day trips into the park, vistas that will blow your mind, midnight

We wish we would have known before arriving that there was no hot water for showers. Our camper doesn't have a shower so we were really looking forward to nice showers after hiking all day Big bend. The lady working the office was very nice and helpful with directions. No issues with power or water at the rv site. Wifi at the office was great to stay updated.

overall, such a great experience for my first trip out west. i paid only ten dollars a night to camp there. showers and bathroom use was included, which genuinely felt like a luxury to me. (i am not used to staying at campgrounds with those, especially for 10 a night) laundry was also included. the store, although small, had a great selection of items. any item you could think of for staying near big bend was right there. the porch had an extremely home-like feel, and i loved talking to people out there. don’t get me started on the owner. she was the sweetest and was always checking in on us, considering we were two girl hikers. i want to go back to big bend for stillwell alone. i would recommend this to anyone.

We live out of our RV so we’ve stayed at many RV spots. Stopped by this place to stay for a few days, safe to say we will be back again! Folks were nice, bathrooms were clean, store was well stocked with all types of items. Had snacks and drinks for the kids, wine for the wife, beer for me and even gas for the truck! WiFi available at the store was a nice touch, was able to check in with other family while on the road. This place has rustic charm that you don’t see often anymore, you have to check out the amazing museum! This little oasis in the middle of nowhere will become a regular spot for us when traveling through Texas again. 10/10
