SpringHill Suites by Marriott Frederick

First night was great because it felt quiet. Second night groups of people gathered outside by the outside ground floor (we were in 513) and they were so loud. The person working at the desk said they’d help, but maybe didn’t listen or group didn’t care. I went downstairs myself and asked and the group confirmed they weren’t staying there and eventually left after I went down at 4am. So I question the location if it’s near spots where random people can come and hang out and party.

Positive: The staff at check in was very nice and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Negative: Breakfast sausage and eggs were not good. The potatoes, English muffin, waffles and fruit were good. The bathroom door being glass lit up the entire room when my husband got up before me. (I would have liked to sleep in more)

Overall a very nice hotel for its location, services and room size/setup. Everything is new of this hotel. Free breakfast including non-dairy beverages are very nice. I had an unusual surprise to find used towels hidden in the under the sink cabinet by previous guests (not the hotel’s fault, who would know your guests hid towels under the sink). I also had an unusual surprise to find one side of my clean looking pillowcase smelled like old oil (probably essential oil that couldn’t be completely washed off). I would stay again.

I rated it 1 star because unfortunately, the positives cannot outweigh the negatives in my scenario. Positives: It was a great location for me. Close to everything; from shopping, places to eat, and to where I was working for a few days. Best of all, it shared a parking lot with a Sheetz! Even with all of that, it’s so quiet inside of the hotel. They have signs posted that they observe an 11-6am quiet time, which is something I really appreciate. First night there, I had arrived late (around 10pm). The gentleman at the front desk was amazing. Very nice, accommodating, and informative Negative: The rest of my stay there, the other front desk people not so much. I even called to see if I could extend my reservation. The woman who answered the phone was kind of rude and not helpful at all

The person who checked me in openly discussed her dislike for Republicans after she had noticed my hat which read "make American native again" I didn't respond much as I am anti political. But this left me thinking of my many friends on so many political platforms and different sides of politics and how non of them would appreciate this nonsense when requesting services in a public setting. I will not return to this location and or potentially affiliated businesses due to the direct hate speak by the staff. As an indigenous man in a politically aggressive night stay, I was made uncomfortable! The room I was initially in had a strong chemical smell which dried my throat, nose, and eyes. I was moved to a second room after returning to the front desk.
