They’re warm, comfortable, and more spacious than the older houses. * The Villas are always a highlight—comfortable, well laid out, clean, and ready right at check-in. * Food quality is always excellent, and the serving staff does an outstanding job. * The guides were absolutely dialed in this season. I am only reviewing the lodge rooms. The rooms have been upgraded and are adequate. There is in room coffee maker. There are no clocks or phones in the room. If you have other quests in rooms above you, you will hear them walking around. The beds are comfortable. They currently do not have a pool.(at one time they did). They offer a fan in the room. The dining room has been remodeled. The food is ok but I feel overpriced. Check in was quick. They have a Bunn machine in lobby area that distributes different coffees and hot chocolate. This is complimentary along with cookies.

Look no further for a better staff than Sportsmans. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Ask for Jake as your guide. When you get to the bar Dan and Devin will take great care of you. The food was fantastic. Definitely order the pork pot roast. High five to the chef!! Can’t wait to come back next winter!!

My husband and I decided to take our honeymoon to The Sportsman’s Lodge; he’s been coming for the last 24 years and I love to ice fish! Although the fishing wasn’t the best, we had a great time! Levi was our guide on Tuesday and Jake on Wednesday & they were absolutely fantastic! My kudos especially to Jake for driving us out to our shanty in whiteout conditions!!! The restaurant staff were all very friendly as were the front desk girls. As a newcomer there are a few suggestions for improving your already fantastic resort. 1: more lighting outdoors between the lodge and the villas. With all the ice and snow in the driveways and little lighting, it can be hazardous, especially for older people like us! 2: the bathrooms on the shanty’s are nearly impossible to get into!! We booked a group fishing trip for eight adults in our 60s expecting a professional, comfortable Lake of the Woods experience. What we received was extremely disappointing. The transport to the fishing grounds — referred to as a “bomber” — was completely unacceptable. We were packed in tightly with no room to move for an hour each way. There was no meaningful ventilation, the interior temperature was excessively hot, and exhaust fumes were coming into the cabin. Arms and legs were falling asleep because we were crammed in so tightly. For older guests, this isn’t just uncomfortable — it’s unsafe. Spending two hours per day in those conditions is not reasonable. On the second day, knowing they have trailers available, we asked if they could hook a trailer behind the bomber to give us additio
