Ballard’s Resort

I’m from Mississippi and knew absolutely nothing about ice fishing before this trip, but I do know a good time—and that’s exactly what Ballard’s delivers. The entire staff, from the bartenders to the office clerks, were polite, helpful, and just genuinely happy to be there. The rooms had also been recently renovated and were really nice. My wife and I ended up catching around 30 fish while we were there. Most were smaller, but I caught one that was 21 inches and my wife caught one that looked almost that long too. We also pulled in a couple around 15–16 inches each. One of the coolest parts was that they cooked our fish for us that night, which was awesome. I took my oldest grandson, Evan, for two days of fishing at Ballard's Resort in August. It was great time spent with him and we caught a lot of fish. The foods was great. It was a great experience. In fact, I am thinking about bringing all three of my grandsons this Summer of 2026.

Great resort, went ice fishing and our guide Bryan, was very helpful. Great food, service and such friendly staff. Maybe add a few small amenities and I'm being picky but comparing to neighboring resorts: bath mats for exiting the shower, a blow dryer and a few wine glasses! 😄

We have been to Ballards many time and have many wonderful stories and experiences that we share all the time. I have been there both for winter and summer fishing and each has their own perks. The guides are top notch and the food is amazing. We had the fun of a shore lunch one day and it was so good. Can't get fish much fresher than that. The accommodations are also great and comfortable. You wont regret going there.

We came to Ballard's resort for our honeymoon and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! From the guided fishing tour to shoreside lunch to eating our fresh caught walleye for supper that the restaurant fried up for us, everything was amazing. When we got there to settle in, one of the outside chairs was broken, we no more than reported it and they were already down at the cabin fixing it! Very fast, very friendly service. The on-site restaurant is amazing and you have no need to go anywhere else or to cook your own food (which the kitchen in the cabins have all the essentials to cook if you so wish? We are already trying to figure out when we can come back! We loved the drive up as it was really easy to get to and got to see a lot of MN, but we might use their bus service next time p
