Sportsman Inn Motel

Sportsman Inn is a great place to stay if you are looking for an affordable long-term stay. In the past the Sportsman had something of a seedy reputation but the new owner, Nicky, has really done a great job of clearing out the riff raff. The rooms are clean and there is a laundry facility on site. The motel is located a bit too far out of town for it to be considered conveniently close to restaurants but it's not so far away that it's a huge hassle to get there. This cozy and secluded Motel may just be exactly what you are looking for if you are transitioning housing or are planning on being in town just for a month or two.

Owner told us he had taken over about 3 weeks before we got there, did not have a copy of the res I made 2 months earlier. A room was available so we stayed. The room was clean, but dusty, like it had been cleaned, but not used for several days. There are no shelves in the bathroom, so had to carry stuff in and out. A/C was a bit loud but worked well, beds were comfortable. The owner was very accommodating, but apparently new to the business.

For $50 I got a perfectly decent room. It may have a scrape and scratch here and there on the walls but it is clean and comfortable. Firm bed though and LOL it uh, slanted towards the wall. I felt like my feet were higher than my head! Oh well I turned around and put my feet against the headboard. Microwave and fridge, TV works. I mean how do you beat $50?

This motel is a few minutes outside of town, not too far, but not in the heart of the city. I was greeted by a man who seemed to take a lot fo pride in his motel. He was friendly and easy to get along with.||||The motel is in really good shape for a typical small motel from the 50s.The non-smoking room was clean, had no smell of smoke and had a comfortable bed. The wifi worked well and the TV had a lot of channels that came in clear.||||Only two things could have been better. The train tracks are not too far away so I could hear the trains as they passed when they blasted their horns. The heater worked ok, not great. If it was a really cold night, I am not sure if this heater in this room would have been sufficient. It worked ok on this night when the temperature dropped to 25 degrees.||||

We booked several rooms for a youth sporting event. All the rooms looked clean at first, but after a few minutes issues started to appear. There was hair on both the towels and sheets in all rooms, the sheets were stained with many different types of bodily fluid discharge which the attendant wrote off as the sheets "were a little worn", one room had a horrible smell, one mattress was split open to show the bed springs and what appeared to be a mouse nest, and little dark bugs were crawling on the pillows and sheets in 2 rooms. Absolutely the worst place I have ever attempted to stay. We demanded and were given a full refund. Do not stay here!
