Spark by Hilton St. Augustine Historic District

Positive: Location and staff friendliness Negative: Lack of hot breakfast and early check-in time, would prefer 1pm or 2 pmAlso did not like fee for parking, specially for Hilton members

We were two couples traveling to see the wonderful Christmas lights. Both couples are Gold members. Absolutely no early checkin ( which I know is not always possible, but was disappointing. ). The checkin employee never said welcome or smiled, seems she doesn't like her job. The bathroom had no shower curtain, no washcloths, and two bath towels (most hotels give 3 for 2 people staying). When I asked if it is a new thing to not have a shower curtain I was told no and given a shower curtain to assemble myself. I kindly asked the maid if she could do it for us. NO maid service. When we returned back to our room after being gone all day, I was shocked to see no new towels or the bed made. I asked front desk and they don't do maid service daily. We arrived at the hotel last Friday night to a blaring fire alarm that went off for about an hour and continued throughout the night. We left the hotel during this time, came back around midnight and to our surprise, our water was completely shut off. The fire alarm was still going off in the front and we were unable to shower, brush our teeth or use the restroom. The following morning the water was back on but no heat element. Once the water was finally on, there was hardly any water pressure. You would turn the knob for the shower head and have to wait 5 seconds before water began coming out. Now, while accidents do happen I completely understand. The issue we’ve had with this hotel is the lack of professionalism in resolving a case and taking full responsibility for what’s happened. I

Upon check-in, I encountered a card that had been deactivated due to suspected fraud, and I was informed it did not process successfully. I attempted to resolve the issue while experiencing considerable rudeness and condescension from staff. After resolving the matter, I checked in, left, and returned to the room for the night. The experience was dreadful. The parking lot light was flashing intermittently like a strobe light into the room, disrupting the environment. Additionally, I have a daughter with breathing issues, and her asthma was triggered. The toilet was leaking, and the folding table intended as a desk was broken. I also tripped over a piece of wood, and when reporting these issues to Hilton, I was advised to speak with the front desk. However, the staff were unapproachable and

We really enjoyed our stay here! Suzanne (sorry if I misspelled her name) was so nice and welcoming when we arrived. She made us feel right at home. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the Castillo de San Marcos, great restaurants, and the trolley stop. Breakfast was also very good, with oatmeal, cereals, coffee, tea, fruit, bagels, muffins, and eggs. Everything was fresh and tasty. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!
