Sonesta Essential Augusta

I have traveled all over the world and stayed in crappy places when needed, but this one takes the cake. The building itself looks okay, but the rooms are just filthy and the service is not good. First, I was given the key to the wrong room and walked in on a very pissed gentelman. Then, when I get the key to my room, it was extremely disgusting. All the linens were dirty and stained. Even my husband who is not picky decided to use his own clothes to dry himself after a shower and used his clothes as blankets. Also, there was no breakfast provided.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Looks nothing like ad photo, smells, elevator didn’t work, cold showers in morning, no breakfast, which is advertised and manager is a liar and crook. He agreed to refund our second nights stay after all the issues and never did. Refused to come to the phone or return my calls, as well. Save yourself by staying somewhere else!!!

Positive: Only 1 staff on duty 24/7 That person works maintenance,, front desk and housekeeping. Signs say free breakfast but its not honored. Rooms are clean and like new but AC unit was dripping water on carpet so that was not ideal Negative: 1 staff on duty

The hotel is filthy. Walls are dirty, has roaches, the ac/heater kept clicking off, with no cover on it and it was very uncomfortable. The floor in the bathroom was sunk in and the toilet was leaning. There were a half bottle of conditioner, no shampoo, or soap. The linen smelled old and not fresh. There was marijuana smoke in the hall as I was heading to the room. This place gives Choice hotels a bad reputation and needs to be shut down.Super disappointed

Extremely Unsafe, Unsanitary, and Unacceptable – Do Not Stay Here I stayed at Sonesta Essentials in Augusta for a one day work event, which also happened to fall on my birthday weekend. I had high hopes, especially since this was a last-minute booking and the brand name gave the impression of something at least basic but safe. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. First red flag: the front desk never answered the phone. I tried calling for hours while en route to Augusta just to confirm my reservation. No answer. Not once. Second red flag: the entire hotel reeked of cigarettes. Not just a faint smell. I mean heavy, stale cigarette odor everywhere; the lobby, hallways, elevators, and yes, the rooms. It smelled like smoking had been happening for years
