Affordable Suites Augusta

After a seven hour trip, (which should have been only four hours, but our car broke down) we really needed some friendly faces. As we checked in we found those friendly faces. The couple who checked us in couldn’t have been nicer. It felt a little like coming home. The room was actually more like an apartment and was very spacious with a kitchen, the bed was comfortable and there’s a nice little courtyard area complete with barbecue grills. The only downside was the fact that air conditioning did not work very well. The first night was super cold no matter how we adjusted the temperature but the second night it seem to fail completely. Overall this was a great value for the money.

We booked this hotel because of the 4.4 star rating, without actually reading the reviews. If you read the reviews it quickly becomes clear that this was a well cared-for property in the recent past. But now it is very run down and dirty. It also appears to have a lot of permanent (or long-term) residents. It seriously had a vibe like I was wandering into someone else's neighborhood. Our first indication that all was not right was the fact that the front desk was only open until 6:00 pm. Our room key and receipt were placed in an envelope in the "night check-in" mailbox. Not very secure at all. The walk through the inner courtyard made me think everything needed a good power-washing. Immediately upon entering the room, it was clear how grimy everything was. I was pleasantly surprised by how large the suite was. There was actual room to move around in the bathroom and plenty of room to spread out my various luggage. I only have a couple minor drawbacks. The king bed was basically a couple of cot frames with a large mattress, which left one side noticeably higher than the other. There was also no appreciable blanket on the bed. It was more like a thin throw blanket, which required me to fetch a fleece blanket from my vehicle to stay warm.The televisions are rather small, which wasn't a huge deal except for the few hours I was in the room, and the sofa was not comfortable to sit on for very long. The pictures on the website are not very accurate compared to what you actually see onsite, which was a little disappointing. That said, the general manager was very nice and helpful. The room was somewhat clean, but the floors were very sticky, which made it feel less comfortable overall. The bed was okay — not great, not terrible. The location was fine and convenient enough, and the noise level was acceptable. It was a little pricey for what you get, but given that we were in an emergency situation and needed a place quickly, it worked out. Overall, it was okay for an emergency-type stay, just not somewhere I’d choose if I had other options.

Find another option for a short stay. Rooms are not cleaned like they should be. Dust, hair, mildew, food crumbs, etc found all over the room. There are some shady characters that seem to live at this hotel. Loud talking outside the rooms, smoke filled court area( cigarettes and weed). People in a room beside you that bang on the wall and last of all you have to worry about your car getting hit because the other guests don't seem to care.
