Snake River Campground

I stopped here on my way west for a stargazing vacation. I had heard of Merritt Reservoir due to its yearly hosting of the Nebraska Star Party, but had never attended. Participants bragged of its crazy dark skies and I wanted to see for myself. I only spent one night (May 3 2021) but it was a dark, moonless night. Everything I had heard about this place was true. Borderline bortle 1/2 skies and very quiet due to its isolation. This Monday night, I was the only camper there and never saw another soul (no rangers, no day trippers, nothing). I stayed up to shoot a few night shots after sunset, and got up in time to see the Milky Way up before the moon rose around 3:30 am. I plan to return. This is one of the closest truly, staggeringly dark locations to my home in Madison, WI.

Very noisy generators are running at 1:00 2:00 in the morning people yelling partying campground stinks because trash dumpsters are full of fish guts need game and parks people need to regulate alot more on ..or move trash dumpsters by the entrance area not by camp site..

Lovely area for camping, it is very beautiful and clean

Do I need to make a reservation for this campground site.?? Please help
