The owner of the Merritt Trading Post store is an extremely nice man. The store is clean, organized and well stocked with supplies for a fishing, camping vacation. My Coonhound and I got caught in an unexpected thunderstorm while visiting the area. The gigantic hail was pounding my car and cracked the windshield. I found the store lot as a place to stop driving and while sitting in the parking lot, my windshield cracked 2 more times. The dog and I ran to seek refuge inside the store. The owner kindly let us both in. He was so nice and showed concern for our safety. The store was clean and well stocked with just about anything you could need for your trip in the area. Fishing supplies, snacks, suveniors, gas. And it's a fun store to just shop around in. The storm passed, I fueled up

I recently stayed at this resort, and unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The fishing experience was subpar, and I was really disappointed to find out that the boat rentals hadn’t passed their yearly inspection – something I wasn’t informed about until after we arrived, despite calling ahead to confirm our stay. They should definitely update their website and clean up their rental availability information to avoid this kind of confusion. Additionally, I was really hoping to catch walleye, but I could have easily made that happen somewhere else. The long drive to get here just wasn’t worth it for my family or me. While the staff were friendly, there’s a difference between being friendly and being genuinely kind and helpful. It's unfortunate, but I won’t be returning to this resor

We stayed for one night. July 29 thru 30 2024. The cabin was really, really dated but marginally clean. We went to the Lake McConaughy beach (about 15 minutes away) it was amazing. 4-wheel drive beach and very serene. Swam, hung out, had a picnic dinner. Went into Chadron - 20 min away - to get some snacks and shorts ( one of us was not prepared). You need to see the Chadron water tower - so cool. We returned, went to bed and in the middle of the night, the window blew onto the bed. Didn’t break but landed on the bed. Really? Told the checkout clerk, and she was … it could be worse. One of our campers was hit by a tree. Never again. Stay far, far away. FAR, FAR AWAY.

This is our first time coming up here to camp and we made a trip to the trading post to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by everything they had to offer. We went to buy some children’s bug spray and they had a great selection to pick from. We left with some cold drinks, a floatie for our daughter, some snacks, and a couple souvenir stickers. They also had games to purchase, a variety of sunglasses, hats, and tons of fishing supplies. There was a little bit of everything here if you forgot something on your travels! They also have gas and diesel if you need to fill up. Definitely worth the stop!! We did not stay in the cabins so my review doesn’t reflect that portion.

Fantastic Place, great, friendly people who welcome you with open arms. I always feel I belong. The baddest part about this place at the end of visiting is saying goodbye. These people are genuine, kind-hearted, and respectful, not to many people left who take time to help. All it takes is for you to be kind to them, and they'll treat you well. Everything is perfect here. No changes needed very satisfied, and keep up the great work. New Tradition for us Lord willing every year. Thank you so much everyone, working here.
