Lord Ranch Resort

The little cabins are modest, the mattress too soft for my back, but for the price and what most people desire in a cabin, I think they are a little treat. There’s a small fridge, stove, and a grill so you can create your own dining memories. Lord Ranch is off the beaten path and the surrounding expansive topography exudes western Nebraska. In fact, you are likely to see and hear lots of wildlife while walking around the ranch. At night, the coyotes howling in the distance harkens back to a different, more savage time. The ladies that operate Lord Ranch are down to earth and very helpful. They also sell some locally produced goodies you take home with you as a memory of your stay in Nebraska's Wild West.

This is a great home base to explore the Sandhills as you are within 30 minutes of multiple hiking trails, fishing spots, and the town of Valentine for any needed amenities. Jackie greeted us when we arrived and showed us the ropes. The cabins are perfect for family getaways like ours was. The cabin beds were comfortable and the hot water heater handled my 15 minute shower with no issues! Stargazing out here was epic with basically zero light pollution, and the varieties of sounds at night are very interesting (from being plentiful when the coyotes are howling to almost no sound at all when no planes are flying overhead and the wind is still). We had the opportunity to stay at the Lord Ranch and it was fabulous! Jackie and Shannon are terrific hosts. Jackie checks in daily should we need anything, but everything was well outfitted and we had all our needs met. We were able to cook, grill, keep our provisions cold in the fridge, or hop into town for a bite to eat. Jackie and Shannon work hard at keeping the place comfortable and clean. The ranch is nicely isolated, but not too remote. It’s well situated for exploring the Sand Hills and river adventuring. Whether you are hunting, fishing, hiking or just relaxing in the serene beauty of the Sand Hills, with ever-changing light, big skies and wildlife galore, it’s the perfect place to stay. My brothers and I and also some friends have been coming up here for the past18 or so years! It's always been a wonderful experience! We come up in spring and fall for fishing. We met the new owners Jacque and Shannon when they took ownership and immediately we felt like family! These women go out of there way to make you comfortable. It's basically a little piece of paradise tucked in the sand hills near Valentine, Ne. You need to check this place out and you won't be disappointed! Our stay at Lord Ranch Resort was unbelievably cute and cozy. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well-stocked with necessities. Anything we needed was graciously provided by the owners, which helped keep packing to a minimum. However, the beautiful exterior of our lodge was what truly made our experience so wonderful. The cabins are placed on a gorgeous plot of land filled with so much life. From the cows to the horses to the adorable pets, we were kept busy with the animals. And when we weren't occupied taking in all of the critters, the scenic views captivated our attention. The sunsets are beautiful, the blue skies accentuate the rolling green hills perfectly and the stars in the sky were an incredible view at night.
