Shady Oaks Camping Resort

We absolutely loved our stay at Shady Oaks! Our site was level, private, and had excellent Wi-Fi. The laundry room was spotless with efficient machines, and the showers were clean with plenty of hot water and great pressure, such a treat! Jon, the owner is kind, welcoming, and just genuinely awesome. The renovations and upgrades he’s done are impressive, and he shared there are more to come! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Shady Oaks to anyone!

We moved to the Plattsburgh area in late August and stayed at Shady Oaks for a couple of months while buying a house in the area. Jon and all the rest of the folks have been super welcoming and accommodating! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and they have been doing so much work to fix it up even more. There are a lot of full hook-up sites, and some tent sites as well. They are spread out nicely and there are so many big, beautiful trees that you don't feel crowded. On many Friday nights there is live music and great food trucks! We love it here and are looking forward to coming back next season!

We had the most wonderful family vacation staying at Shady Oaks Camping Resort. The new owner, Jon, is the absolute greatest guy. He has given this campground a new lease on life!! So many upgrades and the camp store is the absolute cutest I’ve ever seen at a campground. All RV sites are full hookup. Prices are beyond reasonable!! They even showed an outdoor movie under the stars - the coolest!! Less than a mile drive from the beach, so many outdoor adventure options in the surrounding area, and downtown Plattsburgh is an easy drive from the campground. The campground is peaceful and relaxing - a little oasis. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. For once traveling with 3 little kids didn’t feel quite so hard! I’m so grateful for the experience our family had here. We can’t wait to see

If you are reading a review prior to last year, don’t. Under new ownership, Jon has done a phenomenal job with Shady Oaks. We had never camped here before because honestly, it was pretty run down. We had a seasonal site here this year and were so happy with our experience- we’ve signed up for next year. It’s safe, quiet, clean, and the events are so fun!

Clean well maintained campsites. Has a little store and firewood for sale. Quiet and peaceful. Good quiet location. Good shady sites. A pleasure to meet the new owner, the place has come a long way from being run down, as it was under the previous owner. If you want to get out and camp in a quiet location out of town this is the place. We returned to Shady Oaks around the end of August for another camp out because we so much enjoyed our first stay. It was easy to decide to go back. The new owner, Jon, is very friendly, and his work on renovating, organizing the grounds, and keeping it clean and nice is evident.
