Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Plattsburgh

The first problem arrived when we got there Christmas Eve for 2 days and I had 2 rooms booked, on arrival we were told the the card reader for the rooms doesn't work and someone from the front desk will let us in our rooms, they never let us know before our arrival so we could check for another hotel and at 5pm Christmas Eve after travelling and having a party to go too, we weren't interested in trying to find another place. Everytime we left our room on the 4th floor we had to go down to find someone from the front desk to open the door or one person had to stay in the room to open the door. It was still not fixed when we left. We were told for the inconvience we would recieve a credit which never happened when we left because the Receptionist said she didn't know how to give the credit t

My husband and I stayed at this property for 2 nights - Jan 2, 2026. We were in town for a SUNY Plattsburgh event with several other parents. I was shocked at the disrepair of this hotel and still can’t believe this is a Marriott affiliation. Before I list the issues with the hotel, I want to say that the 3 front desk employees we interacted with over the course of the weekend were very kind, professional and apologetic for our inconveniences. 1. The room key entry system did not work for the entire hotel and apparently had not been working for many days. The front desk employees accompanied us to our room each time to unlock the door with a master key. I will add that no identification was requested after our initial check-in. 2. I will say that this hotel is in a very good location. Short distance to all of the cool places in Plattsburgh. Although, the service and the rooms were absolutely atrocious! Bugs, bugs, bugs, and bugs all over the room ceilings, walls, and windows. Tons of asian lady beetles, flies, moths, etc inside of our rooms. We were on a high floor but they were flying through a very large crack in the window. There could've been more than a hundred but at a certain point we lost track. We killed bug after bug for hours until we thought we got them all. We finally went out to enjoy our trip but a couple hours later we walk into the room greeted by about 40 more bugs spread out all over. I was hoping that this would be a good hotel after a long day but it did not provide. When I got there the key card machine was broken so the person at the desk had to come open my door so that was inconvenient. There was no laundry bag in the room. The heater wasn’t working properly so I couldn’t lower the temperature. A car alarm kept going off in the night which isn’t the hotels fault but I feel like they should have some sort of soundproofing. The shower head wasn’t great. The staff wasn’t the friendliest also.

Enjoyed the hotel facilities and cleanliness of the room, and modern decor. Same for the lobby and overall interior and exterior. Indoor heated pool was relaxing, clean and well-maintained. Wi-fi was dependable and fast. Staff service was top-notch. The only negative was breakfast. While the quality was not bad, it could have been more flavorful. Also, they were running out of (or not replenishing) items at least an hour before cut-off time for breakfast hours. Would consider staying here again, but please consider improving the breakfast quality/service.
