Serenity: A Mountain Cabin in Idyllwild, CA

Shower would not get hot. The pots and pans were put in cabinets greasy/dirty. We had to rewash pretty much every dish we wanted to use. There was unflushed pee in the toilet upon arrival. Disgusting. We paid almost $500 for a weekend trip for that?! We booked thru a rental company that clearly has no idea how to properly host vacation rentals. You're supposed to clean before another person comes to stay. There's wifi that doesn't even work. A landline phone also for emergencies that doesn't even work either. The ants are a problem. One drop of water and you have an entire trail.

I just returned from a few days stay with friends at this retro 50’s cabin. We had a wonderful stay! It is decorated so cute and has a fireplace that we enjoyed although the furnace worked well to keep us warm at night. It has a large deck which we used often enjoying the scenery, birds, squirrels, and even a deer! We cooked many of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. It had new appliances as well. There were extra pillows and blankets in the bedroom closets, in case you needed them. In the bookshelves in the hall there were games and books provided. The town offers a variety of shops to browse and restaurants to enjoy, The Mile High Cafe being one of our favorites. There are also many places to walk and hike nearby. From the moment I entered the front door of this lovely Idyllwild cabin, I experienced the calm, peacefulness and tranquility that it’s name implies - SERENITY! The knotty pine decor and cozy ambience were a welcoming delight. What joy to sit on the deck out back in the company of stellar jays, woodpeckers, bushy tailed squirrels, mule deer - and my absolute favorite - “ Mollie Bear”!! Thank you to the Dickeys for providing this most relaxing and restful retreat!
