Sandcastle Village

We enjoyed our stay. The townhouse was clean and so were the linens and fridge. The stove inside and the dishwasher inside were not clean but we didn't use them anyway. The view from the deck and the back of the townhouse was lovely. Turtles, fish and birds to watch. Some deferred maintenance items but they did not significantly impact our stay and the price was right!

Rooms did have newer flooring, but they were still somewhat out of date. The only real complaint is that the showers were not clean.. I had to clean them myself. The dishwasher desperately needs to be cleaned due to massive calcium build-up. And THANKFULLY - we only had to kill one roach the entire 7 day stay.. thankfully, there was spray left in the room. Otherwise, ok place to stay.

The unit was clean and larger than expected. It is a little outdated but it worked for us. We enjoyed the pond view from our unit and the amenities ( we played pickleball, did miniature golf and utilized the playground with the kids).The location is a little off the beaten path but close enough to downtown New Bern to go and enjoy it. Staff at the recreation center was very friendly.

No TV, No Hot Water, No Wi-fi...and NO help to resolve any of these issues.||We alerted staff that we had NO HOT WATER. The issue was NOT RESOLVED. Our guests had to find alternative place to shower in the town of New Bern! We were beyond humiliated.||The Emergency Contact for after hours, went to VOICEMAIL! We did not feel safe on the property after this, which overall felt like an abandoned ghost town, with no other guests, no security patrol.||Our unit was obviously not cleaned before our arrival, had stains, bugs, rings in the toilets and tubs. According to the decor....this property was updated last in 1982!!! Worst experience ever!! I have stayed here several times, but this time, will be the last. We traveled 5 hours, remind you. Check in was quick and easy. We got to our rental. Unloaded our belongings. I forgot to do my inspection, prior to unloading. As we sat at the dining room table, I looked at the floor and noticed some dead bugs. I got the broom and started sweeping. As I swept the perimeter, I noticed more bugs, some still moving. So, I decided to take a picture of the bugs, to confirm my curiosity. BEDBUGS!!!! I contacted emergency on-call staff, and he responded back in about 5 minutes. To my disappointment, he told me bed bugs can only be upstairs and not downstairs, where I seen them.
