This park is amazing! It's kept so nicely. The shower houses are large clean and hot. Beaches and marinas are cared for. Friendly hosts and staff. It's quite large and not as hard to get a spot as it is at many of our other parks. Great trails and things for kids to do. Nice dog park.
The showers are clean, but they need updates badly. This is a huge park. Some of the spots are full hookups, check beforehand. Unless you fish or hike, there isn't much to do. You really have to drive to do anything. It is a beautiful park. The receptionist at the front gate was very friendly. The camping host at Campsite G, not so much. No internet, and you can only get three antenna stations, and they are spotty. You can drive into Cambridge, but there really isn't anything going on there.
Hi my dad took me to salt fork in 1968.we were at campground for a week the entire week it had rained. My best friend me and my 3 yr.old brother spent that week in the showers the water was warmer there the day we were going home the rain stopped i took advantage an ran down to the lake. That's when I became sad the lake was big an beautiful and so inviting but i could hear the call to leave. I have been looking for this park since than i just found it today i will leave my new review after my long awaited stay🤩 real old camping wench
The campground at Salt Fork was awesome! Great location and tons of things to do... fishing, archery, gem mining (it's not just for kids!). The camp store has everything you need and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The camp sites and loops vary in size and sun/shade. Choose wisely! The restrooms and showerhouses are clean and heated. We were there in September and saw no sign of Bigfoot! 😉 We can't wait to go back!
Beautiful state campground! Our site was in the 'F' loop where the sites are huge. The roads are paved, the grounds are very well maintained, sites have asphalt pads and some have concrete patio/pads. We stayed in a site that did not have any trees because we wanted to use our telescope at night (it was very dark). There are sites that have shade. There are hiking trails that are easily accessible from the campground. We will be back for sure!
