Royal Inn Keystone

We had a lovely time here. The staff was beyond friendly. They were so kind to us. The pool looked very nice, although we never used it. The breakfast was pretty nice, although a little limited. However, it was very nice considering what we paid. Overall, the hotel is great value. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and a lot of great amenities that I did not expect. And it was only like seven minutes away from Mount Rushmore, so great location and the area seemed very safe. We would definitely stay again.

The location was excellent. Suma connected immediately with my daughter and they were close friends playing together for days. The service was top notch. I think some things that would help are cleaning out the A/C in each room. They build up mildew/mold naturally and then blow that out. The shower area walls have a similar problem and need cleaned separately. The rooms should be re-cleaned after they’ve been cleaned using a completely fresh set of cleaning wipes. I have read through the comments and still see several of the same issues happening months later such as hair in tubs and areas missed. Even the bedding smelled. Some vinegar in the wash will fix that right up too. The pool and hot tub were both closed again. The rooms could use a maintenance person to just overhaul 1-3 a day or

The rooms are better than expected for the price. I imagine the bad reviews are due to expectations of a 5 star hotel. The amenities are great; salt water pool, pool room at a good temperature, good sized and depth of pool. Breakfast had a lot of options that we mixed and matched for different meals everyday. They are pet friendly with our rooms in a wing away of other non-pet rooms. Lack of towels were a thing, but we brought extra so it wasn't a bother.

Cannot say this enough say away from this place. The whole place is dirty. They told us the pool was just cleaned it was not. It had dirt all the way across the bottom, the room was dirty with dried blood on the walls, the bed sheets where not clean, the bathtub would not drain, the toilet would not stop running, the electrical plugs did not work. Other rooms did not have any tvs or any of the amenities they where told they paid for. This place was so bad we could not stay any longer. We had two nights booked and only stayed for one. When we told staff they told me that it was too bad but they would look at it and that they would not refund us for the rest of the stay but said customer satisfaction is their number one priority. The staff were lovely and so helpful, it almost felt like a homestay. The hotel was quiet and away from the busy part of town, which was great. The price was very reasonable and the breakfast better than most I've had included with hotels in USA in a similar price bracket. The room was well equipped and very comfortable.
