Residence Inn by Marriott St. Louis Downtown

This was hands down, by far one of the worst experiences at a hotel, yet alone a Marriott brand ever. We had two different rooms with separate issues. The first room 727 had wet carpets, mushrooms growing out of the carpet, holes in the walls and all around just rough. Upon bringing up these issues, we were moved to another room. In 414 the bathtubs had significant rust stains, and the shower head didn’t work in one of the showers. We were contacted by the front desk at 9:45 informing us that if we wanted any type of refund from our stay we would have to leave the hotel the next day, cutting our stay short. The level of customer service from the front desk staff was unacceptable. Not to mention, someone was immediately placed into room 727 knowing there had been mold growing out of the car

Hotel was great. Very clean. I saw staff cleaning areas that other hotels wouldn’t think to clean in years. It’s clear that employees take pride in their job and that there is a dedication to keeping this place well maintained. Only field that this hotel falters is when it comes to the parking. $26 to park overnight. The cost of parking should be advertised in the price of staying at the hotel and would make the decision making process easier for guests. If I’m being honest, knowing the price for parking would’ve made me think twice about staying here.

It was good. Nothing to complain about, which today, is above average. Everything was clean, breakfast was exactly what you would expect and kept stocked. AC was loud at times, but we ran a noise machine and had no issues with sleeping. Odd bathroom layout, but was fine. Our room wasn't cleaned on Saturday (we stayed Friday to Sunday). I read there was a hotel cleaning staff strike that weekend, so maybe that's why? Customer service was good. Don't expect anyone to jump in or go above and beyond, but everyone seemed to know what they were doing and I didn't have any negative experiences. If I asked for something I was helped right then (I asked for change at the desk, needed help getting a ride to the theatre after I lost my phone (use the guy they have a card for, he ended up driving us a

​The location is excellent, offering easy access to downtown and the Union Station train stop. ​Service is generally good, but there's a noticeable lack of warmth and kindness from some staff members. Encouraging staff to smile more and engage with guests more genuinely would significantly improve the guest experience. ​The breakfast is absolutely amazing! It offers a wide variety of options and is definitely superior to what many other hotels provide—you won't be disappointed. ​The room was good, though there was some noticeable wetness, which I suspect was caused by the air conditioning unit. Unfortunately, the constant, strong smell of cannabis on our floor was a persistent and unpleasant issue.
