Residence Inn by Marriott Dayton Vandalia

I tend to stay at Marriott properties when I can for the consistency in quality. This property has a great location right off the interstate and is near many restaurants. The suite and kitchen were very nice. My complaint is with the front desk staff. Shortly after checking in I went to the front desk and advised them that I was unable to get anything on the TV other than the Marriott home screen. I was told to change channels or turn it off and back on, both of which I had tried. Trying to change channels did nothing, and the same screen showed when turning off and back on several times. Then I was told I would need to unplug the TV and then plug it back in. I am 5 feet tall and this TV was mounted on the wall above my head. GREAT hotel!! My company put me up here for a night and I had the best experience. I unfortunately was not up for the complimentary breakfast but it’s because I slept like a BABY. Everything was spotless and the bed was so comfy. Everyone was so nice and I wish I had more nights to stay there. 10/10 recommend (and I don’t give those out easily!)

The hotel is in a great location with many restaurants and grocery store in walking distance. The rooms were large with a nice large desk. Things I didn't like: 1. Upon arrival and using the toilet, the seat fell off. If that toilet was cleaned before my arrival, housekeeping should have notified maintenance about this since it was obvious that it was about to fall off. Maintenance was great and arrived immediately to fix the problem. The dishwasher was not secured (loose screw on one side). Again, housekeeping should make maintenance aware of issues that need fixing BEFORE next guest moves in. 2. Housekeeping should be retrained to pay more attention to the headboard, which had the greasy hair imprint of the previous guest visible as well as dried up liquid around the nightstand area back

Stayed at the same place twice. Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. I had requested a certain room to be able to travel with my aged dog and to have easy access to the outside to walk her when needed. The rooms were very clean and hade everything I needed to be comfortable. This location is very convenient off the highway and near many many choices for food. Very pleased that this inn is exactly as pictured on the website, unlike some of the places that use old pictures and do not show the current rundown condition.

Really appreciated the breakfast offerings at this Residence Inn. It’s refreshing to see a hotel that hasn’t given up on quality. The availability of gluten free breakfast items was thoughtful and genuinely useful, not just a token gesture. The flavored syrups for coffee were a nice touch too and made mornings feel a little less like survival mode. Too many hotel chains are cutting corners with sad powdered eggs and bare minimum options, so it was great to see this location actually putting in the effort. Well done.
